Drone/The Totem

Special Character: Commander Shas'ka Kauyon is a special character. He may be used in Tau armies
of 1,000 Points or more. He does counts as the +1 Fire Caste Commander that the army must take.
Commander Shas'ka Kauyon may only select the equipment below.

Equipment: XV22 Battlesuit, Multi-Tracker Advanced Target Lock (Allows him to fire 2 Weapons at 2
different targets if he so wishes), Drone Controller, Command-Link Drone or Sensory Wave Drone,
and Bonding Knife.

Options: Commander Shas'ka Kauyon has a few options to select his role in the army.
Drones: Commander Shas'ka Kauyon always has at least one Drone (Either the Command-Link Drone
or Sensory Wave Drone or The Totem). The points are already included in Shas'ka Kauyon’s Profile.

The other Two Drones can be any combination of the following:

Weapons: Commander Shas'ka Kauyon must have two of the Weapon Systems shown below for the
price listed (Note however this is still note possible for special issue Weapons, only one each may be
taken). If you select the same weapon twice is does not make it Twin-Linked, they will be considered
separate.

Special Rules
Independent Character: Except when accompanied by his drones, Commander Shas'ka Kauyon is
considered an Independent Character.

XV22 Battlesuit: This experimental Battlesuit grants the user the Acute Senses Special Rule, and
includes a Stealth Field Generator. The XV22 Battlesuit contains an integrated Shield Generator that
grants Commander Shas'ka Kauyon a 4+ Invulnerable Save.

Command-Link Drone: Networked to the leaders of his warriors under his command, the Command-
Link Drone allows Commander Shas'ka Kauyon to better direct the battle. Any Tau units (Including
Vespid with a Strain Leader, but not Kroot Units) within 18” May use his Leadership for any Morale
or Pinning tests. Note: The Radius is measured from the Drone not Commander Shas'ka Kauyon.

Sensory Wave Drone: Networked to the leaders of his warriors under his command, the Sensory
Wave Drone allows Commander Shas'ka Kauyon to send his warriors into a fanatical frenzy by
sending his emotions through the communications during a fanatical speech. Any Tau Units
(Including Vespid with a Strain Leader and Kroot with a Shaper) within 18” have the Preferred Enemy
and Furious Charge Special Rules for One Full Turn (Both your turn and your opponents). For each
turn there after you may only be able to do this again on a D6 of 6. Roll before the turn starts, you
may use this in the other players turn if you so wish. Note: The Radius is measured from the Drone
not Commander Shas'ka Kauyon. If Shas'ka Kauyon dies while the frenzy is active it will not disrupt it,
it will still continue until of the end of the full turn.

The Totem: When the Tau colony first arrived on the planet Shas’ka Kauyon ordered the various
castes to scout the surrounding area for various predators. One group chanced upon a tunnel that
continued for many miles under the surface. When Shas’ka Kauyon was told this instead of ordering
various expedition teams to search it, he decided to go see it himself. Soon he and a small group of
excavation workers protected by a small squad of fire warriors came to a vault deep beneath the
surface. After many hours of work and still no success in opening the vault door Shas’ka Kauyon was
so frustrated he went up to it and struck it many times. It is unsure why but the door suddenly
opened. Inside in what appeared to be some type of holding pod laid an Axe. Despite waiting for it to
be studied and against various objections Shas’ka Kauyon just went up to it and lifted it out of the
pod. Many have speculated but none know for sure why Shas’ka never lets it out of his sight and goes
into a fit of anger at the first mention of it. His Shas’el’s have held back from taking action because it
has so far not impeded his ability to organise and direct battles and so far they have always pushed
back anything Chaos and the Orks could throw at them. Despite the many rumours, all the Shas’la
under his command feels a strange sense of eagerness to battle when they see it. It is also interesting
to note that many tactical decisions have come from Shas’ka Kauyon after he spends numerous hours
locked away with the axe, away from fellow Shas’la and these tactics have had an interesting impact
on their battles. Many Shas’el say it is safe to assume that they could not have gotten this far without
it. The totem has a strange impact on nearby units (Vespid and Kroot are included in this). All models
within 12” get +2 Ld. Also, although it is not known how; it would appear many tactical decisions
seem to come from Shas’ka Kauyon when he is alone with the axe. One of these tactics allows your
carbine equipped fire warriors a special rule. If your carbine equipped squad gets charged by an
enemy unit then the fire warriors are allowed to fire one more time into that squad befor any Close
combat rolls are made. They are not allowed to do this though if they are already in combat with
another unit. This represents it is better to fire one last time then spend time preparing for a futile
combat.
