Two months until Creation Sabbath

October 28 is Creation Sabbath 2017. This special Sabbath is set aside to refocus on the
centrality of Creation to the message of the Bible and the Christian understanding of reality.
Creation Sabbath is a time when all people can be still and know that our Creator and
Redeemer lives; or shout for joy, as God asserts that the sons of God did at the time of
creation (Job 38:7). By sponsoring Creation Sabbath, the Seventh-day Adventist Church
encourages all Christians to share in the peace that only comes through knowledge and
worship of the Creator God of the Bible.

In these times of global strife and division, the beautiful message of hope, unity and
equality built on the foundation of Christ, our Creator and Redeemer, is a gift that has been
entrusted to the Church to share with the world. Through Jesus Christ, Creator of all things,
every human is wonderfully made; all people descended from Adam, all are one in Christ,
the second Adam. As children of Godredeemed through His infinite sacrificeevery
human is a person equal with all other people. As the Apostle Paul wrote to the Galatians:

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you
as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor
Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for
you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christs, then you are Abrahams
seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 3:26-29 NKJV

In preparation for Creation Sabbath, the Adventist Ministerial Association has developed a
website with resources for pastors and lay people:

creationsabbath.net
This website contains an array of videos, sermons, childrens story ideas, help in planning a
meaningful service as well as other resources for congregations planning their Creation
Sabbath celebrations on October 28.

Other resources about the creation can be found at the Geoscience Research Institute
website:

grisda.org

The Center for Origins at Southern Adventist University also has an extensive array of
resources at:

www.southern.edu/origins

There are many other amazing resources available for learning about, sharing and
celebrating Gods beautiful creation, but by far the most valuable of all resources is Gods
Word itself. The Bible tells us about the history of creation from the beginning, and makes
clear that the God who created us cared enough for His creation to become one of us, live
the life of a human and suffer death to redeems us. Because He created us, our Christian
hope in salvation and a new creation is not just something we know, it is something we can
celebrate and share. This is what Creation Sabbath on October 28 is all about. Happy
CREATION Sabbath!
