(CNN)An Australian medical student says she and her mother were forced to leave a beach on the French Riviera after
locals took exception to their burkinis.

Zeynab Alshelh told CNN affiliate Seven Network she had traveled to the south coast of France to don the full-
coverage swimsuit in solidarity with other women who had been abused on beaches there.

Rare, 2,000-year-old Roman coin discovered in Jerusalem

Jerusalem (CNN)Archaeologists have discovered a gold coin in Jerusalem bearing the face of Nero, the Roman
Emperor best known for playing the fiddle while Ancient Rome burned.

The coin was likely struck in 56-57 AD, researchers say. The Romans took control of the city in 63 BC after what
became known as the Siege of Jerusalem.

Angelina Jolie files for divorce from Brad Pitt

(CNN)One of Hollywood's highest profile marriages is over.

Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from husband Brad Pitt, citing irreconcilable differences.
According to the court documents, the pair separated on September 15, two years and one month after they married in
August 2014.
Jolie is seeking physical custody of their six children and asking the court to grant Pitt visitation.
Johnson: Brexit talks 'probably' to begin in early
2017
The UK will "probably" begin formal negotiations to leave the European Union early in 2017, Foreign
Secretary Boris Johnson has told the BBC.

The foreign secretary said it was still "subject for discussion" but the "Article 50 letter" would be produced
"probably in the early part" of 2017.

But Number 10 said the government's position had not changed and Article 50 would not be triggered in
2016.

PM Theresa May has not yet given a clear statement on when it will begin.

Species body says extra elephant protection could

boost ivory trade

The UN body that oversees trade in endangered species, says it will oppose efforts to increase global
protection for elephants.

The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, known as CITES, begins a key meeting this
weekend with many African countries are pushing for stronger safeguards for elephants.

It's estimated that around 20,000 are killed each year for their tusks.

But CITES says that tougher rules could backfire and boost the trade in ivory.

'No proof' fitness trackers promote weight loss

Wearing an activity device that counts how many steps you have taken does not appear to improve the
chances of losing weight, research suggests.

The two-year long study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) included nearly 500
overweight volunteers who were asked to diet and take more exercise.

Half were given a fitness tracker to help them keep tabs.

This group had lost less weight than the other one by the end of the trial.
The study authors say this does not mean people should ditch the technology altogether, but neither should
they put too much faith in them, at least as a slimming aid.

Manufacturers say that the technology has moved on since the study, and that their own research suggests
activity trackers can help with weight loss alongside diet and exercise regimes.
