A. Case Study 1: Product/Service Failure

1. Description. Each group must identify a relatively NEW product/technology that was not
successfully adopted in the Philippines. Alternatively, you can identify an existing, well-known
product/technology that was unable to keep up with new entrants. Analyze the failures using
concepts learned in class.
2. Deliverables for the Progress Report
a. Which mini-group will present this?
b. What are your choices? Include a brief description for each alternative. You can choose
products from the last 3-5 years.
c. Have you chosen one already? If so, what is it, and why did you choose this?
d. Case structure how do you plan to analyze and present?
e. Frameworks/concepts you plan to include in the presentation
f. How will you gather data (e.g., thru internet research, interview, survey, etc.)?

B. Case Study 2: Choose your own topic

1. Description. Propose an innovation-related topic to present in class. The topic must be original,
entertaining, and most importantly, educational.
2. Deliverables for the Progress Report
a. Which mini-group will present this?
b. What are your choices? Include a brief description for each alternative.
c. Have you chosen one already? If so, what is it, and why did you choose this?
d. Case structure how do you plan to analyze and present?
e. Frameworks/concepts you plan to include in the presentation
f. How will you gather data (e.g., thru internet research, interview, survey, etc.)?

C. Innovation Proposal 1: Business Model Innovation

1. Description. Identify an existing local company and analyze its current business model.
Suggested methods include observation, interview(s), etc. Come up with an idea: (1) to solve a
potential specific need or (2) take advantage of a business opportunity related to its current
business model. Propose changes to improve this current business model, either to solve the
problem or realize the opportunity.
2. Deliverables for the Progress Report
a. Which mini-group will present this?
b. What are your company choices? Include a brief business model description for each
alternative. Limit your choices to 3-5 companies max.
c. Have you chosen one already? If so, what is it, and why did you choose this?
d. Brief description of the problem/opportunity and what do you propose for improvement?
e. Case structure how do you plan to analyze and present?
f. Frameworks/concepts you plan to include in the presentation
g. How will you gather data (e.g., thru internet research, interview, survey, etc.)?

D. Innovation Proposal 2: Product or Service Innovation

1. Description. Identify a specific consumer need or business opportunity, and come up with a
potentially innovative product or service to address the need or business opportunity.

1-3 companies max.
