AS virtuous (czcigodni) men pass mildly away (odchodz),

And whisper to their souls to go,
Whilst (podczas gdy) some of their sad friends do say,
"Now his breath goes," and some say, "No."

So let us melt, and make no noise,

No tear-floods (ez powodzi), nor sigh-tempests (burzy westchnie) move ;
'Twere(byaby to) profanation of our joys
To tell the laity (laikom) our love.

Moving of th' earth brings harms and fears ;

Men reckon what it did, and meant ;
But trepidation (drenie) of the spheres,
Though greater far (jest duo potniejsze), is innocent.

Dull sublunary lovers' love (A mio przyziemnych kochankw)

Whose soul is sensecannot admit (Co ciao nad dusz wycenia)
Of absence, 'cause it doth remove (Im kilka osobnych porankw)
The thing which elemented it. (Odbiera chci do istnienia.)

But we by a love so much refined, (wyrafinowani)

That ourselves know not what it is,
Inter-assurd of the mind,
Care less, eyes, lips and hands to miss.

Our two souls therefore, which are one, (dusze dwie w jedn si zmieniaj)
Though I must go, endure not yet (Rozka nie ruszy mioci)
A breach, but an expansion, (Nie przerw si, pewno nam daj)
Like gold to aery thinness beat. (Maj jak zoto waciwoci)

If they be two, they are two so

As stiff twin compasses are two ;
Thy soul, the fix'd foot, makes no show
To move, but doth, if th' other do.

And though it in the centre sit, (Cho dystans dzieli tak daleki)
Yet, when the other far doth roam, (Te dwa ramiona rozpostarte)
It leans, and hearkens after it, (Jednak otrzyj z ez powieki)
And grows erect, as that comes home. (Nim minie czas znw bd zwarte.)

Such wilt thou be to me, who must, (Jak ten cyrkiel daleko bdz)
Like th' other foot, obliquely run ; (Ty jednak czekaj niestudzona)
Thy firmness makes my circle just, (Wrc przecie w kocu, tak sdz)
And makes me end where I begun. (I mio bdzie ocalona.)
