Cowaramup Bay Boardriders

Kids Rip in Derby
Day Surf-Off
Thanks
to Pete Stanlake
Cowaramup Bay Boardriders held their first event for story &
on Sunday 1\8 at Huzzas. All involved were The 20 photos participants of the

clean green faces to show their stuff on. Competitive instincts were therefore tempered by
the camaraderie of being regular surf associates.

Blake McKinley impressed all but the judges with

his mossie weight ability to not only milk the max
out of every wave but to get his board on a rail on
his back hand. Bailee Hastie was one of the nu-
merous girls surfing on the day and impressed all
with her flair and precision surfing. Sam Jackson
was one of the few competitors to favour the lefts
but showed why he did so with a couple of deter-
mined backside hacks.

Kashmir Jones

The day got underway with a bit of tandem action.

Christo Edwards steered his children safely to
shore on a couple of good ones while Lucas
Englert immediately sent his son Sol into conten-
tion for wipeout of the day. Fortunately small chil-
dren who can’t swim do float, and Sol’s experience
is guaranteed to be the starting point of his life as a
surfing hell man.

Bailee Hastie
The final came down to 4 Huzza stalwarts.
Kashmir Jones showed the obvious advantage of
genetics as he threw his large frame into some very
mature moves.
Brooke Kornaus selected great waves and milked
them to death and Tasman Stanlake failed to find a
wave with the power to perform his trademark
roundhouse cutback.

Good Luck Sol
