Confirmation Competencies

2017 - 2018
In order to learn more about their faith, students must attend CCD
class on a regular basis. Confirmation students may not exceed
two (2) absences over the course of the year. Any additional
absences will make a student ineligible to make their Confirmation in
the spring. Furthermore, students are expected to make up any
Attendance work that they miss when they are absent from class, and have it
completed and passed in in a timely manner. Students should
communicate with their teacher when they will be absent, as far
in advanced as possible, and follow up with their teacher afterwards
to see what they missed. Missing or incomplete work will negatively
affect a students progress!
Regular attendance at Mass is also expected.

Service to others is a very important aspect of our faith, and thus is a

central component of preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Over the course of the year, students will have several opportunities
to participate in service activities. A particular emphasis will be placed
Service on service to their parish community. Students will be notified well in
advance of possible service activities. Active and engaged
participation in these activities and reflection on the work that
they do is required to meet this competency. It will be the students
responsibility to communicate with their teacher in advanced if they
will not be able to attend a service activity, and what they will do to
make it up.

Students must demonstrate an acceptable knowledge and

appreciation of their Catholic faith. Students will demonstrate this
competency through the assignments and activities that they
Faith complete throughout the course of the year. Assignments will be
collected and graded on a regular basis, and a final grade will be
Knowledge calculated at the end of the year. A passing grade (greater than
70%) must be earned to make their Confirmation. (A break-down
of how this grade will be calculated can be found in the syllabus.)
Therefore, students need to take their assignments seriously and put
in the effort needed to meet this competency.
