INTRODUCTION
Clairvoyance 2017 will be the 20th Annual National Conference of the School of Health
System Studies (SHSS) of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.

Every year a specic theme is selected which addresses the pertinent issues in the
transitional health systems of our country. It aims to bring upfront various ideas and
innovative ways of promoting health through a multi-sectoral channel. It is a step
towards forging new dialogue with various community stake holders by offering platform
to discuss the challenges in providing universal health and healthcare thus, resolving way
forward in the fast-evolving health setting.

This year theme for 20th Anniversary of Clairvoyance is Innovate, Integrate and Inspire,
which signies the evolution of health sector wherein being diversied and multi-sectoral
it is working in an integrated manner towards achieving health and well-being for all and
inspiring future health professionals.

 21st Century Leaders In The Health Sector Paragons Of Inspiration

With the pace at which the world is moving, we as professionals in the health sector are being
bombarded with challenges faster than we can counter them comprehensively! Along with
the changing problems we also have to tackle the changing context of society, needs and
expectations. This indeed requires visionary motivated leaders.

We require hands-on practitioners who can budget, communicate, and advocate for and
among many diverse communities. We require researchers who can adapt and collaborate
in times of rapid change. We require teachers and scientists who can work across multiple
disciplines. All in all, we require a global perspective.

The complex nature of health problems will continue to challenge the health workforce of
the 21st century. Communication skills, data analysis, policy development, hospital
management, coalition building, and public engagement are key to making strategic
connections that improve or maintain health.

Clairvoyance 2017 brings to you 'the new face of health care leadership': what it takes to
overcome the obstacles, face the challenges and provide health care that encompasses
inclusiveness, universality, comprehensiveness and feasibility in the Indian scenario.

Tax, Trade And Health An Emerging Challenge Or A Solution

As the time shifted, Health is not only considered as a part of the social sector but as an
industry catering to health and healthcare. The health care industry in India is one among
the major revenue generators and a signicant contributor to the economy. As the industry
becomes a massive player in the economy it is subject to legislations related to tax and
trade.

The impact of the recent implementation of GST on health care still remains hazy and difcult
to predict. The fact that health care industry comprises several branches including
pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, medical tourism, medical technology etc, reduces the clarity
of scenario.

Clairvoyance 2017 will dissect the position of health sector in India; a social sector good or a
sector within the market economy, and evaluate its impact on attaining the SDGs, most
importantly Universal Health Coverage.

 Future Of Big Data In Health And Healthcare. Revitalising Health For All

The biggest healthcare challenge facing the country today is not only the acute shortage of
doctors and beds but also the affordability of treatment in Tier two and three cities and the
rural areas. In such a scenario where there exist various contrasts within the same country, big
data analytics can go a long way in improving the quality of treatment across all regions
while keeping in mind its cost.

By including descriptive, diagnostic, operational, predictive and prescriptive analytical

values, big data analysis can be used fruitfully to mitigate future risks and plan the road
ahead. Based on these information, healthcare facilities in India can be addressed better.

Clairvoyance will be focusing on how Big Data can be useful in Health sectors and how it will
lead to on ground changes.

Entrepreneurship In Health And Healthcare. The Future In Your Hands

Entrepreneurship in healthcare can bridge the gap between the needs and what is
available, and take us nearer to achieving health goals. Social entrepreneur aims to bring
integral changes in the world by acting upon problems in a solution oriented method
through innovation, action and education to create both social impact and economic
prot.

As the economy gradually warms up to the start-up scenario, a new generation of start-ups
and business models revolving around multiple innovative ideas are slowly bringing about a
change in the way issues of health and disease are being addressed. It is a perfect platform
for amalgamation of tried and tested techniques with innovative technology in healthcare.
It has a potential of multidimensional benets including monetary gains, societal benets
and conrming to one's altruistic self. Is Health and Healthcare entrepreneurship here to
