4_#I. Introduction

Contrary to "Draw Poker" each player is dealt out only two cards instead of five
when playing "Texas Hold'em Poker". It is also not allowed to replace cards but in
the course of the game there are on the whole five Community Cards which are turned
over - from these and both of his covered Hold Cards the player then builds the
best possible 5 cards combination. The winner of the game is the player with the
highest combination. #

4_#II. Gameplay

In this chapter the course of the game is explained exemplified.#

2_#Each player receives the same number of chips. #
1_#999#
2_#A randomly selected player receives the Dealer Button, the player on his
left the Small Blind Button and the next player on the left the Big Blind Button. #
6_##
2_#The player with the Big Blind Button has to place a minimum amount in the
amount of the Big Blind (e.g. 40 ) and the player with the Small Blind Button has
to place a minimum amount in the amount of the Small Blind (e.g. 20 ).#
1_#998#
256#%5 and %6 pay the Blinds. They take the according amount of their chips
and place them in the middle of the table, the chips which lie there constitute the
Pot: Here all antes are placed. #
1_#1000#
2_#Now two Hold Cards are dealt to each player. #
1_#3000#
22#In the first betting round the player on the left of the Big Blind
starts, that's %a. %c now has the opportunity to Call, Bet and Fold. #
6_##
5_#1#
22#%a folds, %b probably has bad cards. Doing so %b drops out of this
round and is no longer able to win the Pot. However, %b didn't lose anything as
well, because %b didn't place any ante (into the Pot). #
6_##
23#Now it's %a's turn who wants to call. To do so, %b has to place the same
amount which is placed by another player at this point. #
6_##
5_#2#
23#As %6 (Big Blind) already placed 40 , %a has to pay 40 into the Pot
as well in order to remain in the game. #
6_##
5_#1#
24#%a folds.#
6_##
5_#2#
25#%a wants to Call. %c already paid the Small Blind (20 ) and therefore
has to pay another 20 in order to place the ante of 40 .#
6_##
5_#2#
26#As %a already paid the required ante of 40 (Big Blind), %b can remain
in the game without paying anything into the Pot. %c Checks.#
6_##
26#All players have either folded or paid the same ante (40 ) into the
Pot. Therefore the first betting round is finished. #
6_##
2_#Three cards are turned over from the deck, the Flop. These Community
Cards are visible to all the players - and can be used to build combinations with
the own Hold Cards. #
1_#3003#
2_#Second betting round: Now the players who are still in the game can
raise their antes. #
6_##
5_#2#
5_#2#
5_#2#
2_#In this betting round nobody wants to raise, everybody Checks. #
6_##
2_#A fourth card is turned over from the deck, the Turn.
Now the third betting round starts: The players can place further antes. #
1_#3004#
5_#3#
25#It's %a's turn who places 100 (Bet). Now %6 and %3 have to either
place the same amount or fold. #
6_##
5_#1#
26#For %a the risk is too high and %b folds.#
6_##
5_#3#
23#%a raises by 100 (Raise). On the whole %b has to pay 200
additionally into the Pot: because %b has to call the 100 which were placed by
%5 just now into the Pot before %b can raise. #
6_##
5_#2#
25#%a also pays 100 . Doing so the third betting round is finished - as
all players who are still in the game have placed the same amount. #
6_##
2_#The fifth and last Community Card is turned over, the River.
Now the fourth and final betting round follows. Further antes can be placed. #
1_#3005#
5_#2#
5_#2#
2_#However, nobody raises, both Check. #
6_##
2_#Now the showdown takes place: The players show their Hold Cards and the
player with the highest combination wins and receives the Pot. #
1_#3007#
23#%a has a Three Of A Kind of aces: Two aces as Hold Cards and one in the
Community Cards. #
1_#3009#
25#%a has two Pairs (7s and kings) - but two Pairs are less valuable than a
Three Of A Kind, therefore %3 wins with the Three Of A Kind of aces. #
6_##
23#%a wins and receives the Pot.#
1_#3099#
32##
2_#Therewith this round ends and the next hand is dealt. #
1_#999#
2_#The Blind Buttons move around to the next player after each hand
(clockwise). #
1_#998#
2_#Now it continues like in the first game: The Blinds are paid, the cards
are dealt, and so forth. #

2_#High Card (Highest card):
In the case of a 5 Cards Combination, which doesn't consist of a combination such
as a Pair or another combination, the highest card counts: In this case it's a
king. #

2_#Common combinations:
The remaining combinations, starting on the left in descending order. #
6_##
7_#6#
79##
2_#In the case of equal types of combination, e.g. if two player have a
Pair, the player who's Pair has the higher card value wins: A Pair of kings beats
e.g. a Pair of 5s. The order of the card values is (descending): Ace, king, queen,
jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2. Different card suits are totally equal. #

73#105206#
83#Straight with kings (Winner)#
75#102209#
85#Straight with jacks#
79##
35#103207404301111#
2_#Example: The player with the higher Straight (9, 10, jack, queen, king)
beats the player with the lower Straight (7, 8, 9, 10, jack). #
6_##
7_#6#
73#306204#
83#Pair of kings#
75#206108#
85#Pair of kings (winner)#
79##
35#106409403301111#
2_#Example: Both of the players have a Pair of kings. It's always the best
5 Cards Combination which counts: 2 cards of both of the players are kings. In the
remaining 3 (highest) cards which count, one of the players has an ace, the other
one only a jack. The player with the ace wins, because it's of a higher value. #

4_#IV. Specials

In this chapter Limits, All In, Side Pot and Split Pot are explained. #
33##
2_#There are different rule variations which regulate which amounts can be
placed: No Limit, Pot Limit and Split Limit. #
6_##
2_#No Limit: A player can place all chips he possesses at any time.
Pot Limit: The ante can always only be raised by the amount of the ante in the Pot.
#
6_##
2_#Split Limit: It's only possible to place a certain amount at all times,
or respectively it the ante can only be raised by a certain amount. This amount is
the Big Blind in the first two betting rounds and twice the Big Blind in the last
two rounds.#
6_##
9_##
91#tl1#
2_#All In: If a player doesn't have enough chips left to call an amount he
can still remain in the game by going All In.
He then places all the chips he still possesses. #
6_##
5_#5#
24#Example: %a raises by 600 .#
6_##
22#Now it's %a's turn. %c only has 200 left, therefore he can't pay the
same amount. However, %c can remain in the game if %b goes All In and places all
chips %b has got left. #
6_##
5_#6#
22#%a goes All In. #
6_##
22#%a wins by a Straight. But as %a couldn't provide the full ante, the Pot
is shared accordingly: %c receives only a part of the Pot. The rest of the Pot from
which %a doesn't have a share is called the Side Pot. #
1_#3099#
91#tl2#
23#Example: %a has a Full House - three jacks in the Community Cards and
two kings in the Hold Cards. #
1_#3009#
24#%a has the same Full House (jacks and kings). As the card values of the
best 5 Cards Combination of both players are equal, it's a tie and the Pot is
shared equally (Split Pot). #
6_##
234#Split Pot: %3 and %4 both win and receive half of the Pot. #
1_#3099#
4_#The tutorial ends now. You have received an overview and can start to
play. Full details concerning the rules can be found in the Help section. #
