Ladies and gentlemen, the province we live in!

Catarman, Guinsiliban, Mahinog, Mambajao and Sagay- the five municipalities making up the
province of Camiguin- the Island born of Fire.
With the islands tourism industry sky-rocketing, the Department of Education, Division of
Camiguin is also revolutionizing.
In the search for a better effective action that will truly transform the face of education, the
Department of Education- division of Camiguin found this reason to cultivate and fertilize
programs and innovation inclusive for all who wanted change and transformation-the
learners in general to mention.
To rekindle the love of the learners of the celestial bodies and ignite them to seek answers to
their own questions, the Department of Education in partnership with the KILAHA Foundation
and the local agencies embarked on the first ever Nightscape of the province. Pupils and
students now have the opportunity to see for themselves the beauty of the sky and
experience first-hand in the manipulation of the high-powered telescope.
Evolving to becoming a 21st century classroom, Camiguin developed the STAR Classroom
Award, aligned to the directive contained in the Regional Memorandum No. 15 series 2013.
This is to ensure that educational practices are effectively and efficiently delivered to
learners.
LCD Projectors and interactive whiteboards are now readily available in few classrooms that
had received the 3-STAR recognition. This makes an invitational environment to learners
thereby gaining good result in lowering the drop-out rate among the elementary and
secondary schools in the division.
In the advent of even higher form of technology, the Division of Camiguin did not forget to
help preserve the cultural values among the indigenous people in the province. To strengthen
its mutual respect , Department of Education- Division of Camiguin empowers these people
to showcase in a film the local proverbs which they still hold true in their hearts. These films
were directed, produced and acted by the student-member of the indigenous group
themselves.
To heightened their involvement and for the people in the province , specially to students
who shall take the reins towards the deepening of cultural and historical appreciation-
Museum of the Living Tradition were established in two places.
Bringing education to the lost, the least and the last at their doorstep is the underlying
foundation of the program of the Mobile Open High School Program. The extension program
of the existing Open High School Program of the Department. This is a community-based
modular learning for out-of-school youth to complete the Junior High School. The Mobile
Open High Program was successfully presented in Tokyo Japan Central Office, Bureau of
Education at Japan International Cooperation Agency or JICA. The CEO of Recruit Holdings,
UNIQCLO in Waseda Graduate School and in the Hitotsubashi University.
Technology has exfoliated a lot of possibilities in making ones work fast and easy. With the
innovative minds of the people incharge, DHRMS in Camiguin is the first in Region X. a
complete package tool for the HRMO for decision-making and for generating data as fast as
an eagle. In the simplest form, one can actually browse through it and click for specific
information needed. The data are up-to-date and are ready to print.
This is who we are in the province- embracing the public as partner not just passive
recipients.
