The 10 examples below prove the physical design of an early learning space can have a huge impact on
kids abilities to discover their world, interact with each other, learn a little bit, and actually be kids.

Because the biggest problem a kid should have to solve in kindergarten is plain or chocolate milk.

Kinderganten Die Katze
located in Karlsruhe,
Germany
The building was created
in 2011

Kindergarten Die Katzie was

built as part of the campaign
'Europe Without Borders'
becoming a symbol of a Franco-
German friendship
Kindergarten Die Katze is the name of the building.
This means cat kindergarten.

French artist Tomi Ungerer and

architect dAyla-Suzan Yndel are
Tomi Ungerer behind this perfect kindergarten
Ex t e r i o r
The building is shaped like a cat
resting in a sphinx-like position.
Children attending this kitty-kindergarten
must be thrilled to go every day, learn and
play in a building with that extraordinary
shape.
Each day, students are given the opportunity to
playfully enter through the mouth of the cat
into the spirited belly of the cuddly feline
where the space is built to house 100 children.

As kids enter the unique building

through the cats mouth, it feels
as though they are being
swallowed whole. Inside the
felines belly lies the classrooms,
coatroom, dining room and
kitchen, while the paws house
the childrens play areas.
The cute feline school welcomes hundreds of
kids every day who enter through the
mouth, take classes in its belly and come out
through its tail, or a silver slide at the back!

Behind the cats back its obviously its

tail, made from asteel tube slide from
where the kids can come out!

Topped by a green fur-like roof, the

metal and concrete feline sits looking
at every kid come in through its mouth
every morning, as if they were being
eaten. Its big round eyes are actually
windows that flood its t wo-levels with
plenty of natural light.
I n te r i o r

Round windows make up the cat's

eyes, while the front door serves
asits mouth; students venturing
inside will feel like they're being
swallowed whole.

The cats belly shelters a coatroom,

a dining room, a kitchen and
classrooms with colorful drawings
made by the kids hanging on its
walls.
Its paws are play areas for the tots, and on
the upper level, a playroom allows kids to
peek outside through the cats giant eyes.

Kindergarten
WolfartsweierinKarlsruhe, Germany
is the perfect school for cat lovers.

In the interior, you'll find t wo floors,
with a kitchen, coatroom, classroom,
and multiple play areas.

You can exit out the back through the

tail, which doubles as a slide (there are
also stairs for the slightly older-at-
heart).
Co n c l u s i o n

That is the sort of criteria that will base having children on so well
doneartist Tomi Ungerer and architect dAyla-Suzan Yndel.

Because, the kindergarten has an unique building design, so it will attract

children to go to school. And also the idea of the design comes from an artist
and later in the construction will be assisted by an architect.
