line as they go to the table.

country. Light a white candle

May the light of the second candle shine as a symbol that Girl Scouts are true to
God and their country. Light a white candle

May the light of the third candle shine as a symbol that Girl Scouts are true to their
ideals as interpreted in the Girl Scout Law. Light a white candle

The trefoil, which is the Girl Scout symbol, lies before you. We will light 10 candles
representing the Girl Scout Law.

As each of the 10 candles is lit state what it represents.

Honest and Fair

Friendly and Helpful
Considerate and Caring
Courageous and Strong
Responsible for what I say and do
Respect myself and others
Respect authority
Use resources wisely
Make the world a better place
and Be a sister to every Girl Scout.

MC: May we (point to the girls and parents presnet) I trust you to carry out the Girl
Scout mission to build girls of courage, character and confidence who make the
world a better place?

New Leaders: You may trust us.

MC: Will you do everything in your power to follow the policies and standards of
the Girl Scout organization?

New Leaders: We will do our best.

You place the pins on the new leaders upside down. This can be done by the MC, current
leaders, the daughters of the leaders or just the girls who are present.

MC: The reason all the pins are upside down it to remind you to go home and do 3
good turns. Each good turn or service is for the parts of the Promise we just
recited. I hope that the next time we see each other mom or dad will have turned
your pins right side up.

Girl Scouts, may the 3 leaves of the trefoil, representing the 3 parts of the Girl
Scout Promise, give you the feeling that you are part of a sisterhood that will bring
you joy as you work together, play together and seek together. Today in every
member in the ocuntry, that trefoil shape points the way to friendliness, and good
citizenship. May you all share a wonderful experience as you help girls grow
through Scouting.
