Assignment Title Professional Practice For Performers

Purpose Of This Assignment

The aim of this unit is to enable actors to understand the current professional environment,
employment opportunities and demands of their specialist area and their ability to respond
accordingly.
Scenario
Fourthwall are releasing their annual Graduates Know How brochure. Most acting graduates leave
drama school knowing how to act but cant set up and produce their own work because they
dont know the rules and regulations that need to be in place. Thats where Graduates Know How
comes in. The brochure is designed to offer newly graduated actors all the information that they
will need to break into the industry and begin creating their own professional work.
In recent years market research has revealed that actors have lost interest in the brochure
because many struggle to relate to the writers due to the fact that the brochure lacks an essence
of personal experience. It has been agreed that Fourthwall will take a new approach this year in
the hope of branching out to a wider audience.
An advert has been placed in The Stage calling for actors that are due to graduate in the next year,
to comprise their own version of the Graduates Know How. The most informative brochure will be
selected for publication and the writer will receive 60% of the profits made on sales.
The key to writing this brochure is to be highly informative and to keep it personal. After all, thats
why they are looking for an actor still in training.
