Analysis of "Sloppy Seconds" By George Watsky

In this song, figurative language is used mainly in a symbolic sense such as Hand me

downs, Give me give me leftovers, Give me give me sloppy seconds. This represents the artist

wanting to be with someone who has had their heart broken before. Every single person got a

couple skeletons is an idiom for the common phrase skeletons in their closet. This can infer

that the artist is alright with someone coming from a negative past with some held back secrets.

How many miles, I still love you this phrase in the lyrics can symbolise the journey

of the life the person has gone through and that the artist doesn't care how far the person has

gone, he just cares about them no matter what they have done or what they have been through.

Also when the artist states, Give me give me sloppy seconds, Give em here, give em here. he is

continuing to repeat these lines to get his point across.

The subject of this song is literally about sloppy seconds. The artist repeatedly lists of

items and things that are commonly thought of as second hand goods including hand me downs,

leftovers, and cold pizza. All of these items are a symbolic reference to a person who has been

through alot in life, mainly heartbreak.
