Siksika Nation continues to experience a


profusion of displaced citizens, as hundreds
of names remain on the waiting list for ac-
commodations four years after the raging
Alberta Together Bow River floods snowballed an already
wretched housing situation.
According to the Siksika Nation Council,
over 300 families or roughly 1,200 people

Having found shelter in trailers, among fam-
ily members and outside reserve lands, the
desperation for residents formerly on the
waiting list and those left down and out
from the floods is causing a dispute regard-
ing priority.
The housing department used to build 15
houses a year, but they havent built in years
because of the rental program that was de-
signed, said Siksika Nation Councillor Ru-

close on Tuesday, Sept. 12 for refurbishment. New equipment and an all-
access surface made from recycled materials will be installed. Estimated re-
