SYSTEM ANALYSIS

System Summary:
Home Space Hospital is a newly setup hospital located in Boston. This hospital has
doctors, nurses, and other staffs in various departments.
The hospital management has recently decided to computerize all their activities from
maintenance of patients’ medical records to maintenance of accounts. The manager of trh
hospital Stephen Fleming has decided to allocate the task of network setup to David
Johnson, an expert network administrator.
Stephen Fleming along with David has decided that each doctor will be allocated a
separate computer. As patients’ records are confidential, the doctors will have access to
only the records of their patients. When a patient has to consult a second doctor in the
hospital, the same records will have to be shared with the second doctor.
After the completion of a patients’ treatment, the final bills will be generated from the
accounts department and the receipts will be handed over to the patients.
The management has recently employed a few visually and hearing impaired employees,
in the accounts department. The management has asked David to test out some methods
through which these employees can easily use the computers.
For proper planning, David prepares a list of requirements:

 The operating system that will be installed needs to support the network and share
resources.

 The installation procedure will be made in such a way so that David need not be
physically present at the time of installation.

 The network protocol should be selected so that it ensures a smooth transfer of

data between the computers.

 The file system should be able to support security.

 Printers need to be installed for generating the bills of the patients.

 Status of the printer will have to be recorded time to time by the administrator.

After consultations with the doctors, David has identified the tasks that need to be carried
out for efficient file and data management.
 Every doctor should have separate month-wise folders in his computers, in which
weekly sub folders should be created and the patient records should be stored as
individual files.
 The weekly subfolders should be made available to the pathology department so
that they can use the required data for generating reports.
 Only the doctors should have permissions to edit files in the weekly folders.
 When data needs to be shared between doctors, the administrator needs to assign
permissions to the doctors.
 Shared folders should be easily accessible over the network.
 Doctors maintain a DailyMonitor file. File security needs to be implemented on this
file so that unauthorized users cannot read the file even if they directly access the
computer of the doctor.

 Regular backups of the monthly and weekly subfolders will have to be taken
 When files are restored from the backups they have to be stored in the computer in
such a away that minimum space is utilized.

The doctors need to send the status of their work as a text file to their supervisor at 5.00
P.M to ensure this David needs to perform the following task:
 Schedule a notepad file to open at 5.00p.m so that the doctors can fill data.

The management has instructed David to ensure system resources are utilized to optimum.
For this purpose, David decides to perform the following tasks without performing any
hardware upgrades:
 Increase internal memory
 Improve hard disk performance

Some doctors may have newly recruited interns working under them. These interns will be
maintaining data on the computer of the supervising doctor. To ensure easier management,
David wants that:
 The interns and the doctors have their separate disk space on the computer.
 The interns should not be able to change the desktop environment.

In addition, David needs to provide a weekly report to the management on:

 Analysis of the system, application, and the security related issues using internal
tools of the operating system.
 Analysis of performance on each computer based on parameters such as:
• Disk performance
• Processor
• Memory
 System status such as hardware resources, components, software, and applications.
 Tools that will help visually impaired employees.

Process:
+ Configure your doctor's computer:

In order so that physicians can use your computer, we design the

following:
I created a user "BacSi" under Admin and partitions on your hard drive
is NTFS file system so that we can encode as well as security is more
secure. I check the file system was formatted to NTFS the system yet,
if not we do the following: Suppose we move the drive partition Logical
Drives (D), from the FAT32 file system to NTFS, do the following :
Start -> Run -> Cmd -> CONVERT D: /FS:NTFS Start -> Run ->
cmd -> CONVERT C: / FS: NTFS
+ To work is convenient and easy to use we do the
following:
I created each quarter, each corresponding to a quarter year, in a year
have 12 months and each month has 4 weeks and every week we shall
have seven days to create a folder for each level.

Each doctor will do the job for his report on the level at 5 pm every
day, so we scheduled for text editor program at 5 pm will be done
automatically on a daily basis.I do the following:

Start -> Programs -> System Tools -> Scheduled stasks -> and
then follow the instructions of our program.

There are some doctors to practice working together on a computer

with a doctor in the hospital again; therefore we created for doctors to
practice a user named "BacSiTT" under the User "BacSi."

However, if a physician documents that do not want to see the doctor,

the physician practice to encrypt the folder containing the content
want to encrypt, we have done by clicking on the folder to encrypt ->
Properties -> Advanced ... -> Encrypt. . .

+ Increase Virtual memory cache:

System Properties/ Advanced/ Performance/setting -> Set
virtual memory

+ Run: Scandisk, Disk Defragment, Disk Cleanup to speed up system.

• Scandisk: to have bug drives, files and folders.

• Defragment: piece collection drive.

• Cleanup: cleaning systems, cleaning rubbish.

+ Quote:

• take advantage of the hard disk

• doctor and inpatient physicians in their region discs on your
computer
• doctor boarding will not change the desktop environment
1. For each doctor has a disk space of its own, divided we make the
partition when installing Windows and to limit the data stored on
the disc should do the following: select the properties of the disk
to select the quota limit.
2. To others it does not change the Desktop as follows:

Group Policy to run the program and select the Users

Configuration / Administrative Templates / Control Panel /
Display / Prevent Changing Wallpaper and then right click and
select Properties / Enabled.

3. And must also regularly check the user login by selecting

Control Panel / Administrator Tools / Local Security Policy
/ Audit Policy was used to record the user logs on, to check the
e antenna of the user, and then enter the Control Panel /
Administrator Tools / Event Viewer.

+ Installation of Windows XP:

1. installing Windows XP Professional

> Configure desktop

2. Using network card: Intel 10/100 Base-T, UTP… configure

network protocol including:

-> Client for Microsoft Network: Enables the machine to access

resources of other machines.

-> File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks: Allows file and
printer sharing over network.

-> Internet Protocol- (TCP/IP)

3. Using TCP/IP to check network connections.

4. Use the IPConfig/All for server name, network address and IP

address of the machine.

5. Using PING to test another machine is not networked.

NET VIEW...To command to view a list of machines on the LAN.

+ How to Create USERS:

I did the following:

Right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop and select MANAGE.

Then select the LOCAL USERS and Groups and then right-click on the
word New Users, select the users then we will see a dialog box appear,
fill in the details required (the user must enter user name that we
want to create, we describe the description that user, the password
you must enter when you login the next time, we enter the
confirmation for password, we finally hi the create button to finish
creating the user. )

+ How to create Groups:

I did the following:

Right-click the My computer icon on the desktop and select Manage,

then select Local Users and Groups, right-click the folder Groups under
it, a dialog box will appear asking for the Group Name, Description and
Member.. fill in the details and hit the add button to create the group.

Quote:

Assign rights to the individual doctors... How:D?

1. Create a separate folder for each doctor. To which they can store
medical records of patients and other documents.
2. and to encrypt files and folders to the general computer the
users can not access, this work was conducted as follows:

Select the file/folder the needs to be encrypted, right-click then

select Properties> Advanced> Encrypt Contents to secure
data.

3. to share data on the network, it must be approved by the

Administrator, because the physicians are issued only READ and
WRITE rights. For sharing the data the administrator must give
the right to do so.
4. to access a shared folder you should use to divide the folder into
the MAP Network Drive: right-click my computer and select map
network derives.
5. if you want to save the data weekly or monthly backup the data
we want to save. To do so proceed as follow: select Star> All
programs> Accessories> System Tools> Back Ups.

+ Quote:

The installation procedure will be made in such a way so that

David neednot be physically present at the time of installation:

Msbatch.txt copy files into the installer folder (same level as the
setup.exe file.) As long line so we can create a file. Bat to run
faster. I opened up notepad, type the following command:
i386\winnt /s:i386 /u:msbatch.txt. I opened up notepad, type
the following command: i386 \ Winnt / s i386 / u: msbatch.txt.

Save the file with the name caidatxp.bat then copy into the same
directory as the installer file msbatch.txt Burn a CD and this new
installation, simply run the automated caidatxp.bat to win work.

There is another way instead save the name msbatch.txt we can

save the override name winnt.sif & copy files to the I386 folder of
the installer. This file specifies the default settings each time you
start Windows XP CD and run setup automatically (you no longer
need the command line).

Summary:

Boston is the capital and also the largest city of

Massachusetts. This is the unofficial capital of New-England and is
also one of the richest ancient city and county, the economy is the
primarily case in education, healthcare, finance and high
technology. Therefore to make or configure parameters for a
hospital system must be accurate, secure and reliable. It is a
special challenge for future network administrators.
