Irma was on a path to obliterate New York Citys five boroughs and

Harbor as a Category 5 hurricane at noon on Sept. 10, 2017. The
post cites a National Hurricane Center storm projection from Sept. 1,
2017. But the only projection made that day was that the storm, then
a Category 2, was moving in the direction of the Caribbean, and it
was too early to tell where it would make landfall.

The incident took place at the Vermont

A witness confronted the vandal and
caught him on cell phone footage walk
ing away from the gurdwara's wall with
out any explanation, NBC Los Angeles
reported.
"I said I was going to call the police on
him at which point he said he felt threat
ened," Karna Ray, the witness who filmed
the vandalism, said. "He said, 'I will slit
your throat'."

has revealed that fake Russian accounts bought
nearly $100,000 of political ads during the 2016 US
election campaign.
The ads and accounts appeared to focus on ampli
fying divisive social and political messages across
the ideological spectrum touching on topics from
LGBT matters to race issues to immigration to gun
rights, the social networking giant said on Thursday.
"There have been a lot of questions since the 2016
US election about Russian interference in the elec
toral process," said Alex Stamos, Chief Security
Officer at Facebook, in a blog post.
"In reviewing the ad buys, we have found approxi
mately $100,000 in ad spending from June of 2015
to May of 2017 associated with roughly 3,000 ads
that was connected to about 470 inauthentic
accounts and Pages in violation of our policies," he
posted.
The Facebook analysis suggests these accounts

book "I do what I do" published by Harper

Publishers India. The book is to be launched
by Rajan in Chennai on Tuesday.

He further wrote on demonetization: "I
made these views known in no uncertain

and benefits of demonetization, as well as

He said that "If the government, on weigh

ahead with demonetization, the note outlined

for the last 12 years, the government
said such firms have been 'struck off'
from the Register of Companies and
action initiated to restrict their bank
accounts, an official statement said.
"The names of 2,09,032 companies
have been struck off from the
Register of Companies under Section
248 (5) of the Companies Act. The
individuals will therefore not be able
to operate bank accounts of such
companies till such companies are
legally restored by an order of the
National Company Law Tribunal
(NCLT)," said the Finance Ministry
statement.
The existing directors and author
ized signatories of such struck off
companies will now become exdirec
tors or exauthorized signatories.
"Since such 'struck off' companies
have ceased to exist, action has been
initiated to restrict the operation of
bank accounts of such companies.
The Department of Financial Services
has, through the Indian Banks
Association, advised all banks that
they should take immediate steps to
put restrictions on bank accounts of
such companies," it said.
A list of such companies has been
published on the website of the
Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The
restoration, as and when it happens
shall be reflected by change in the sta
tus of the company from 'Struck off'
to 'Active', it added.
The 'Struck off' companies fall with
in the ambit of Section 248 of the
Companies Act, where the firms have
failed to commence business within
one year of incorporation or have not
paid the subscription which they had
undertaken to pay within a period of
180 days from the date of incorpora
tion.
If a company is not carrying on any
business or operation for a period of
two immediately preceding financial
years and has not made any applica
tion for obtaining the status of a dor
mant company, it would also fall
under the ambit of Section 248.
In addition to such struck off com
panies, banks have also been advised
to go in for enhanced diligence while
dealing with companies in general.

flight medical after completion
of their flight which gets over at
final destination and the airline
was working with DGCA to com
ply with its directives. According
to the DGCA's safety manual, all
pilots and crew are required to
undergo a mandatory breath
analyser test confirming they
have not consumed any alcohol
at least 12 hours before a flight.
Apparently peeved over the
regular violations of the safety
protocols, the DGCA had issued
an ultimatum to the Air India on
the issue before stepping into
the enforce it, though the severi
ty of the proposed action is not
clear.

(Singapore in 1967, Thailand in the 1970s,

in the 1990s and 2000s) but except for a
small 2010 outbreak in south India, noth
ing recently. I may start an outbreak
myself. Male readers: Do you feel your
boxer shorts are more roomy than they
used to be? Uhoh.

I suspect the traditional Chinese remedy
works better: Healers bang a giant gong
very loudly near the sufferer and tell him
he's fine now.
