Clarifying

Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiqs and Abu

Khadeejah Abdul Waahid's Blatant Attempt
to Distort and Obfuscate the Speech of a
Student of Knowledge

This clarification has been written due to what is currently being viciously and maliciously
spread on the social network site; Twitter and on a website by some of our brothers,
specifically Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiq and Abu Khadeejah Abdul-Wahid may Allah guide them to
the truth. They have embarked on a blatant attempt to subvert the meanings of my
statements and have shown a lack of husnu dthun regarding the intent of my words. This
has in turn lead them to display an immature and high level of stupidity with their corrupt
interpretation and sick understanding. A few days ago, an audio file was spitefully published
online by Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiq wherein he fervently tried to accuse me of going into
extremes in expressing my love for Shaykh Yahya Al Hujoori by comparing him to the Kabah,
Allahs aid is sought. It amazes me how the one who possess such heinous thoughts sleeps
at night knowing that he will have to stand in front of the Lord of the worlds. How can one
be suitable to address a community on the cultivation of children and he himself falls into
such unpleasant and shameless acts?!

I pondered over this issue, and after advice from my close friends, I saw a need to clarify the
intent from my speech for the one who is in need of this clarification. Anyone who has taken
the time to listen to the audio will see that I did not compare the Shaykh with the Kabah,
instead I compared the crowd of people around him to that of the crowd of people in the
season of Hajj or perhaps at the time of Umrah. These brothers know this extremely well,
and only someone of limited intellect or with an agenda to accuse and defame will interpret
my speech as Amjad Rafiq has. He unjustly spread what he believed was a mistake on my
behalf with the help of Abu Khadeejah by sending a link to a website, wherein there is a
refutation which has spread all over the world. And who am I such that they would spend
their precious time following and concentrating on me? This care and concern of theirs is a
proof proving the lack of benefit in their time, in that which could have increased them in
knowledge of Allah and gaining a closeness of Him. Allahs aid is sought.

Below is a screen print of a segment from the website. Notice, that Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiq
has highlighted in bold font what he wants the reader to focus on a pay attention to.

Here is a transcript of what I said word-for-word. You will clearly see the depraved and
calculated concocted devious mindset of this individual. I said,

Once the athaan was called, you could see more people coming, coming, looking, looking
and they were all tullaab (students) and it was really nice to see the people showing love.
And then once the Salah had finished..SubhanAllah, the best similitude I can give you guys is
that of when the people are making Tawaaf around the Kaabh during Ramadan or even
Hajj. And I dont say that to compare Shaykh Yahya to some type of idol but just to let you
guys know the reaction of the tullab and the people in the Masjid. It was so hectic, that
people were pushing, people were shoving. When they prayed the Salaatul Janazah about
literally three minutes after Salatul Isha, you couldnt move. It was shoulder to shoulder,
foot to foot, back to back, book to book

Abu Iyaad says,

As if he was the Kabah

Whilst I accept that there could be some ambiguity with the choice of words, and no doubt
in my speech was exaggeration but it wasnt a result of being a fanatic to Shaykh Yahya. The
voice note was recorded in the heat of the moment and it wasnt recorded after deep
deliberation. In addition, the audio file was sent out to a group of brothers only, and I did
not give anyone of them permission to share the audio file nor did anyone of them request
permission from me. I will admit that after listening to the audio, I can fully understand and
accept wholeheartedly if someone accused me of referring to the Kabah as an idol. That
was a slip of the tongue and I am publically acknowledging my mistake and am taking that
back. I dont believe the Kabah is an idol, nor do I believe that Muslims worship it. It is the
house of Allah, and we worship Allah alone not associating any partners with Him, to Him
belongs the most Beautiful Names and the Loftiest Attributes. Muslims circumambulate the
Kabah in obedience to Allah and following the guidance of our Prophet and Messenger
Muhammad (upon him be peace). These individuals have displayed a classic case of
portraying evil thoughts of their Muslim brother coupled with an agenda to drop and
destroy.

In light of this, my brother Abu Iyaad (and Allah knows best whats within his heart from
sincerity) spread the audio and distributed in the fastest time possible, without the
opportunity for either clarification or rectification. I wonder if he would be pleased if the
same or something similar was done to him? I remind you Abu Iyaad and myself of the
saying of the Messenger of Allah:

((None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother that which he loves from
himself))
Agreed upon

A slip of the tongue during extreme enthusiasm isnt something that is alien to mankind. In a
hadith collected by Muslim it states,

Verily, Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His slave than a person who
has his camel in a waterless desert carrying his provision of food and drink and it is
lost. He, having lost all hopes (to get that back), lies down in shade and is
disappointed about his camel; when all of a sudden he finds that camel standing
before him. He takes hold of its reins and then out of boundless joy blurts out: 'O
Allah, You are my slave and I am Your Rabb'. He commits this mistake out of
extreme joy.

Upon reviewing Abu Iyaads refutation, you will find that our brother makes an enormous
mistake in the Aqeedah of the Muslim by insinuating that we as Muslims worship the
Kabah. This is an awful error and its binding that he clarifies and rectifies it. He writes,

Tawaf around the kabah is an act of worship commanded by Allaah, the Exalted, and
worship of it does not render it an idol

He explicitly makes mention of directing worship to other than Allah, the Exalted. Its
beyond beggars belief to think that every time you have come to the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia to perform your Umrah or Hajj, that you have been directing your worship to the
Kabah and not to the Lord of all the exists, alone not associating any partners with Him. The
startling difference between what you have written and what I said is as I have previously
mentioned, and that is, I recorded the voice note in the spur of the moment, without any
time for any contemplation. As for you, then one can only conclude that you had written this
refutation after some sort of thoughtfulness and reflective thinking. I pray Allah forgives you
and pardons you, but this investigation into this terrible mistake of yours is a direct result of
what your own hands have put forth. I will therefore like to add, that all our brothers and
sisters who have promoted the link to the site, from them Abu Khadeejah Abdul Waahid also
endorse this blunder in the Aqeedah because it is inconceivable that any upright, sound
minded Muslim would ever support and aid such disaster.

With great regret, there are those Muslims who from their actions, it appears that their sole
aim is nothing other than to bring people down or to expose their mistakes. A sense of
happiness is found if their Muslim brother errs or has a slip of the tongue. This is shown by
the speed in which they operate, without prior warning. Without a doubt, this is something
that they will be held to accountable for on a day where neither wealth nor children will
benefit them except for he who came to Allah with a sound heart. In addition, Allah has
bestowed upon me a tremendous blessing by placing me in the city of the Prophet (upon
him be peace), where I continue to seek Islamic knowledge in the presence of virtuous
scholars. I am married with children thus dont have the time to busy myself with their
childish behavior, may Allah guide them to the truth.

The eyes shed tears and the heart is filled with sadness and pity when the condition of the
Muslims is pondered over in our time. You will find some of them following the speech of
Abu Iyaad and Abu Khadeejah without any process of verification nor putting forth any
excuse for their Muslim brother. The people re-tweet whatever Abu Iyaad and Abu
Khadeejah say as if they are parrots. They publish this information on the Internet, and then
it is spread all over the world without looking at the fruits of their actions and the
consequences that occur as a result. Some of the people who follow these two personalities
(and from the are students in the Islamic University of Al Madinah) are people of weak
character and to Allah I complain.

The title of the refutation upon me indicates their lies in the meaning of the word. I say just
as our beloved Messenger said:

((If you have no shyness, then do as you please)).
Al Bukhari

Our Messenger Muhammad (upon him be peace) also mentioned:

((Beware of lying, for lying leads to wickedness (immorality and evil-doing), and
wickedness leads to the fire. A person will continue to tell lies, and endeavour to tell lies,
until he is recorded by Allah as a liar)).
Agreed upon

Be cautious O brothers to this severe threat from the Prophet of Allah (upon him be peace),
the seal of the Prophets and Messengers, which after him there is no prophet or any
messenger.

What further emphasises their twisted understanding is that I mentioned Abdul Haqq
Bakers name in the audio recording and conveyed his salaam to Shaykh Yahya, so this is
somehow tantamount to being affiliated to Brixton Masjid. I am amazed at the one who
extracts from this a firm connection to Brixton Masjid, when Abdul Haqq is a man and he is
not a masjid. Merely conveying the salaam of one man to another man does not necessitate
agreement to the positions and stances the Masjid take. Nobody says this except he who has
an intellect deficiency and sick understanding.

There are a number of points I would like to make clear:

1) My connection to Brixton Masjid is that of any Muslim in the neighbourhood, I
perform my prayers there and I have taught Arabic in the Summer. I am not apart of
the Shurah nor the administration neither am I responsible for the positions which
the Masjid take in the case of Shaykh Ali Hasan Al Halabi or other than him.
2) Its not hidden from anyone, I have love for the brothers in community and I hope
for them goodness in this life and the next, but I do not blind follow anyone.
3) Its appropriate to mention here that Abdul Haqq Baker is my brother in Islam, may
Allah reward him with a lot of khayr. I hold him in a beloved station, like my uncle
like it who likes it, hate it who hates it. I love him for Allahs sake and I believe he is a
good man and he has a strong concern for his Salafi brothers contrary to what some
might say. I dont mean by this that I agree with him in every single thing, but he is a
Sunni Salafi Muslim.

Finally, I remind you both that the supplication of the oppressed is accepted by Allah and
there is no veil between it and Allah as has come in an authentic hadith.

((Fear the supplication of the oppressed, for there is no barrier between it and Allah))
Agreed upon

I ask Allah by His best Names and loftiest Attributes to unite our hearts upon the Quran and
the Sunnah in accordance to the understanding of the Companions (may Allah be pleased
with them all). I ask Allah to guide me, and you both to that which He loves and is pleased
with.
