MONDAY ICT IN LANGUAGE LEARNING

1. Hypertext, Hypermedia, and multimedia


The concept of hypertext was initially pioneered by Bush, who
is known as the grandfather of hypertext, in 1945. He described the
system, the Memex (memory extender), in his article As and as a
device in which an individual stores his books, records, and
communications, and which is mechanized so that it may be
consulted with exceeding speed and flexibility
As matter of fact, hypermedia ia similar to hypertext. The only
distinction is that instead of linking just text, users can link to the other
media, such as graphics, video, spreadsheet, animation as well as
sound.
Multimedia is a technology which help to accommodate two or
more media such as text, graphic, audio, moving video, static video
or animation to became a computer based application

2. The positive consideration that underly the utilization of Computer in


Language Teaching and Learning
It is encourages student to develop non sequential reading habits,
which it is hoped will carry over to reading tasks with
traditional, printed material.
It offers freedom for users to choose any topic of information
available within the package.
It can use in pairs, student can collaborate in problem solving.
It allows the student to determine what particular topics and how
long he want to learn.

3. The relationship between the use of CALL and the issue of the
development of Language Teaching Methodology
In the past language teaching methodology base on the
classroom, but in development of language teaching methodology is
not. Using CALL the student and the teacher could make class
activity without classroom. Teacher could use some CALL program
and also internet

4. E-Learning
This is learning in which the interaction between student and teacher
is online. For us this is generally a student taking a course from a
teacher without going to a physical classroom with that teacher. They
might be in the same building, but the learning and the
communication is done online.
There may be an offline component (for example, a student might
write a response on paper), but there is always an online connection
(e.g. they take a picture of their response to send to the teacher).
Blended Learning
In Ontario, Blended Learning is the use of the Provincial Learning
Management System (more recently termed the virtual Learning
Environment) with a face-to-face classroom. At the moment thats
using Desire2Learn with your students.
But thats Blended Learning with capital letters. For blended
learning I feel you only need to be using online tools. Connect your
students to the Internet. That definition is more inclusive, but then it
also includes some less meaningful implementations. Not all forms of
blended learning are equal. Using the Internet to enhance instruction
is complex, so we spend a lot of time figuring out how to do it well.
Hybrid learning is the same thing, but I think is a term more
commonly used in the United States.

5. The advantage of CBT


More frequent use of formative and summative test or assessment
Test/assessment result is more quickly distributed to teachers
It provides opportunities for students to test personally by the time
they are ready
It is able to increase students self esteem
It is more preferred by students because the result is known faster.

The advantage of IBT
Various quiz types,
Scoring flexibility,
Multimedia compatibility,
Systematic data base and administration,
Ease and secure usage,
Ease, secure, and robust performance.
The different between CBT and IBT
iBT stands for Internet Based Test while CBT stands for
Computer Based Test. A lot of confusion occurs since taking the iBT
also means using a computer.
The iBT is different from the CBT in terms of test content. The iBT
can be considered as the upgraded version of the CBT
You must finish the iBT test within four hours.
The iBT test can be considered the upgraded or newer version of the
CBT. The iBT was introduced in the year 2005.
