MILK bottle Communication,

Aim:
To make it real what RMIT Professor said.
In Australia, Melbourne, RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of
Technology), during the year 2001, a Professor mentioned, in future, we may get
FRIDGES with a micro computer chip in built in the fridge door. When the milk in
the 4 litre MILK bottle reaches the THRESHOLD level of 1 litre, there will be a
signal from the fridge door chip to the computer which in turn will send a MAIL
electronically to the near by supermarket "SEND MILK PLEASE")

Instruments needed:
Home computer, electronic mail connection, Relay Interface between Milk
Bottle CHIP to Fridge Door To Home Computer, Network Connection

Milk Bottle CHIP: similar to the 555 Timer, CHIPS used in repeating song
machines(that repeats a single song for ever), greeting cards which will sing when
opened and quiet when closed. Battery Powered. Nature of the CHIP at the bottom
threshold level of the Milk Bottle: Sensor (Fluid level sensor) which recognizes
the milk level.
How it senses: Functionality similar to the SMOKE Alarms in the Kitchens in
Australia - there is a chemical sensor in the Alarm which smells and goes off upon
detection of black smoke carbon particles in the Air. But the Fire Sprinklers goes
off only when the temperature reaches more than 45 to 75 degrees for example. At
the bottom of the milk bottle, there can be a LIGHT Sensor ( similar to the 1.44MB
Floppy Disk WRITE PROTECTION TECHNIQUE, where the small notch tab square hole at
the bottom left of the floppy disk need to be closed in order to STOP the light
from passing through. If the square hole is open, the light passes through and
operating system software decides READ ONLY (Write protected). Similarly at the
bottom of the milk bottle, at the level of 1 litre from the bottom, say In a 4
litre milk container, the 1 litre level is at about an height of 200cm (Centi
meters) from the bottom ground level. There needs to be a light receiver at one
side of the bottle. When there is more than 1 litre milk, the light from the other
side comes through the milk hence it will be DIM and not bright which means we have
not reached the threshold level yet. On the other hand, when the milk stock level
has dropped below 1 litre, the light passes through the empty bottle and receiver
gets a BRIGHT light and sends the signal to the fridge door.

Fridge Door - Inbuilt IC (Integrated Circuit)CHIP Signal Reader picks up the

weak signal from the Milk Bottle chip, boosts ( amplifies/magnifies) it and
transmit that to the Home computer
