trans-reflectivescreenthatisthelargeston-boardmonitorinitsvehiclesegment.
AswiththelatestCICsystemsaharddiskstoragecapacityof80GBisusedincombinationwiththe
Navigationsystemoption.
Withregardtoaudiosystem,a12GBpartitionofthetotalharddrivememoryissetasideforthemusic
collectionfunction.Musicfilescanbeconverted(ripped)fromCDsorcopiedfromUSBdrivestothe
musiccollectiononthesystemsharddrive.StoringthesefilesontheCIC-dedicatedharddisk,allows
forfastandeasyaccesstothecustomer'smusicatalltimes.Aselectionofupto3700musicfilescan
bestoredwiththesystem.
IncontrastwithCICBasic2(whichhasaCDdrive)CICwithNavigationincorporatesaDVDdrive.
CICincorporatesadoubletunerfortheFM/AMband,oneisusedfortuningtheothertoupdatethe
stationlistandstationinformation.TheFM/AMdoubletunermoduleandtheFM-TMCmodulecom-
binetoformthetripletuner.
Thedigitalradiotuner(IBOC)andsatellitetuner(SDARS)radiosystemsarenowintegratedintothe
CIC,thismeanthereisnoneedtoinstallseparatecontrolunitsforthesefunctions.

Aseven-channelamplifierwithdigitalequalizingisintegratedinthehi-fisystem.Theamplifierofthe
hi-fisoundsystemhasnobusconnectionandreceivestheswitch-onsignalinsteadviaaseparateline.
Thebassspeakersareunderthefrontseats.Theyarecoupledtothesidesills.Thatincreasestheres-
onancevolumenecessaryforbassreproduction.
TheCICandCICBasic2headunitscanbecombinedwithallamplifier/audiospeakersystems.
Thehi-fiandTopHiFisystemsfeatureseparatespeakersforthetrebleandmid-toneranges.
Althoughthediametersofthespeakersinthehi-fisoundsystemandTopHiFisystemarethesame,
theperformanceofthespeakersisdifferent.Thisisachievedbyusingdifferentmaterialsfordi-
aphragms,coilsandmagnets.
TheTopHiFisystemsupportsplaybackofmultichannelformats.Multichannelaudioformatscanbe
playedbackviatheCICdriveorDVDchangerforsixDVDs.TheamplifieroftheTopHiFisystemhasno

playerofonedeviceandthetelephonefunctionofanothercanbeconnectedtothevehiclesimultane-
ously.
Theconfiguredfunctionforeachdeviceinuseisclearlyshownbyaphoneormusicalnotesymbolaf-
terthenameofeachdeviceontheAddnewdevicescreen.
Whentwophonesareconnectedatthesametime,onewillhavefullOfficefunctionality(indicatedby
thephone/phonebookicon)andtheothercanbeusedjustforincoming(personal)callsasanAddi-
tionalTelephone.
ThissecondorAdditionalTelephonewillnotdisplaythecontactsnoranyotherOfficefunction.
ThisisachievedbyhighlightingthedeviceandselectingAdditionalTelephoneunderConfigure
Phonefeatureintheoptionsmenu.

OfficefunctionsaredisplayedontheOfficesub-menu.
ThecustomercanusetheOfficefunctionoftheComboxtoaccesstheemails,SMS,calendar,notes,
tasksandreminders.thesefunctionsarephonedependentandareonlyavailablewithacompatible
Testedcellphone.
TheOfficemenuitemreplacestheContactsiteminthecentralinformationdisplayregardlessif
thephonesupportsthisfunction.
ThecellphonesupportedOfficefunctionswillbedisplayedintheOfficesub-menu(somephoneswill
onlydisplayContactshere).
Althoughaccesstothecellphoneisalwaysread-onlyandtheComboxdoesnotmodifyexistingdata
onthephone,onceyouopenamessage/emailviatheiDrive,thestatusofthemessageonthephone
willchangetoread.
Theusermustmanuallychangethemessagestatusonthephoneinorderforthemessagetobedis-
playedontheiDrivenexttimethedataisupdated(e.g.keyiscycled).
The"CurrentOffice"screentellstheuseraboutthenumberofnewmessages,whichtasksareactive
andforthcomingdeadlines.

BMWwebsite(whenoneisavailable)andstoredonaUSBstick.Forthispurpose,anyconventional
USBstickwithsufficientstoragecapacitycanbeused.Thefirmwarefileisthentransferredfromthe
USBsticktotheComboxviatheUSBaudiointerface(optionSA6FL)inthecenterconsole.
