Procedure 1: Entering the Classroom

This procedure is what Mr. Terry has developed to control the use of technology in the
classroom for his 6th-8th grade students in the Social Science department.

1. Enter the classroom.

2. Walk to the back table.

3. Place your devices into the pink bin: phones,

tablets and computers.

4. Sit at your desk.

5. Take out your materials: Journal, Pen, Planner and

Textbook (if applicable).
Procedure 2: Homework Planning
This procedure is new with the addition of school planners for students. It was recommended
that we use planners with the 6th graders especially, but this is something we have integrated
as a support for all classes and grade levels.

Beginning of Class
1. Enter the classroom appropriately and take a seat.

2. Take out your planner and pen.

3. Copy the homework and due date from the board into
your planner.

4. Leave your planner open for the teacher to check.

5. Do not put away until teacher marks your planner.

End of Class
1. When teacher concludes lesson, return to your seat.

2. Take out your planner.

3. Read what is due.

4. Ask questions about assignments and due dates.

5. Fix details in planner.

Procedure 3: Journal Entries
This procedure is used in each class. Mr. Terry has each student take notes and respond to
questions in their journals. We created a procedure to standardize the way students take notes,
promoting organization of information and the designing visual ways to present information for
comprehension.

1. Open your journal.

2. Turn to a new page.

3. Add a title and date to the top of the page. Look at the board for a
model.

4. Underline your title.

5. Copy the question or organizer into your journal.

6. Highlight vocabulary.

7. Underline subtitles.

8. Fill in answers as directed (individually, in a group, or as a class)
