Welcome to SpecPro 21
SpecPro 21 is used by sales personnel and sales managers to spec vehicles,
manage customers, submit price quotes, request concessions, create sales orders,
and produce and print vehicle proposal presentations and quotations.

System requirements
Before you install SpecPro 21, make sure the computer youre installing it on
meets the minimum software and hardware requirements described in the
following sections.

Software requirements
To run SpecPro 21 and make full use of its unique and powerful features, make
sure your computer receiving the installation meets the following requirements:

Microsoft Windows 7: Professional or Enterprise

Operating system
Microsoft Windows 10: Pro or Enterprise

Browser Internet Explorer 9.0 or higher

Microsoft SQL Server Express (provided with the SpecPro

Database 21 installation software)

Word processor Microsoft Word and Excel 2007, 2010, or 2013

Adobe Reader 9.0 or higher to view user documentation

PDF viewer and training materials

Hardware requirements
Before you install SpecPro 21, make sure the computer receiving the installation
meets the following hardware requirements:
A processor must be at least 2.0+ GHz or better, such as the
Processor
Intel Core i5, AMD FX series

Memory At least 4 GB of RAM

At least 80+ GB
Disk space 4 GB of free disk space available for SpecPro
Note: Using Solid State Drives (SSD) increases performance

Removable media USB port for backing up files to removable USB

Recommended: 1600 x 1200

Video resolution
Minimum: 1024 x 768

Internet access Broadband Internet connection or Wi-Fi

Printer Capable of printing documents containing graphics

Installation requirements
Installing SpecPro 21 requires local administrator rights on the computer where
the software will be installed. The time it takes to and install SpecPro 21 depends
on several conditions such as the processor speed of the computer and the data
files you choose to install. In most cases, the installation process completes in
approximately 35 minutes.

Before installing SpecPro 21, make sure you close all applications and adjust
your browser security settings. The following sections describe how best to
prepare your computer for the installation.

4 Installation requirements
Administrator rights on computer
Installing SpecPro 21 requires that you have local administrator rights on the
computer where you are installing the software. Contact your system
administrator if you need assistance logging in as the local administrator.

Close all open applications

Before starting the installation:
Exit and close all applications.
Temporarily turn-off any anti-virus, firewall, or pop-up blocker software.

Set Internet Explorer security options

Before you can access the installation files, make sure *.freightliner.com is a
trusted site:
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools ( ), and then select Internet options.

3. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Security tab, click Trusted
Sites, and then click Sites.

The Trusted Sites dialog box appears.

4. In the Add this website to the zone text box, enter the following URL:
https://*.freightliner.com
5. Click Add.
The website is added to the Websites list box.
6. Click Close.

6 Installation requirements
Pre-installation check list summary
Before you install SpecPro 21, make sure:
The computer that is receiving the installation is connected to the Internet.
This is necessary to download the installation files.
You have administrator rights on the computer that is receiving the
installation. This is necessary to run the installation program.
The computer meets minimum System requirements (see page 3).

N O T E If you install SpecPro 21 without sufficient memory, a warning message
during the installation. In this case, you can continue installing SpecPro
21, however, performance will be slow.

There are no applications running (such as Outlook or Internet Explorer).

Any anti-virus, firewall, or pop-up blocker applications have been turned-
off.
The Set Internet Explorer security options (see page 5) include
https://*.freightliner.com on the list of trusted web sites.

Installing SpecPro 21 typically takes about 35 minutes, depending on the
processor speed and data files you choose to install.

To install SpecPro 21:

1. Go to the SpecProSuiteInstall folder on your local hard drive and double-
click setup.exe.
The User Account Control dialog box appears prompting you to confirm
changes to your system.

2. Click Yes to continue the installation.
The SpecPro 21 application install begins. The SpecPro 21 Suite Installation
dialog box appears listing the minimal system requirements needed to
install and run SpecPro 21.

3. Click Next.

4. If you have a firewall running, a Windows Security Alert dialog box appears
prompting you if you want to allow the Java application access to your
computer. Click Allow access to continue the installation.

The system installs the 1 application and shows a series of installation

progress screens. After several minutes, the Installshield Wizard dialog box
appears.

5. Click Next.
The License Agreement dialog box appears.

6. Click I accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next.
7. The Destination Folder dialog box appears.

8. Click Next to install SpecPro 21 into the default folder. To install SpecPro
into a different folder location, click Browse and then navigate to, and
select the destination folder.
The Install Wizard - Ready to Install dialog box appears.

9. Click Install.
During the installation, several installation progress screens are shown.
When the installation completes, the Install Wizard Completed dialog box
appears.

10. Click Finish.

11. The SpecPro Suite Installation dialog box remains on the screen.

12. Click Next.

A dialog box appears prompting you to select your location.

13. In the Select your location dialog box, select your regional location, and
then click Next.
A dialog box appears allowing you to select the franchise data to install.

14. Select the franchise data you want to install, and then click Next.

C AU TI ON - DO NOT click Close. Clicking Close installs SpecPro 21 without

installing any franchise data.

NOTE Install only the product data for which you are authorized. Installing
unauthorized franchise data consumes additional hard drive space.

 A confirmation dialog box appears listing the selected data sets.

15. Review the list of franchise data selected for installation, and then click
Install.
As each franchise product database is installed, the status changes from Not
Installed to Installed. When the installation completes, a confirmation
dialog box appears.

 16. Click Yes to install the latest franchise data updates.
The updates may take several minutes. Once complete, a dialog box
appears showing the installed franchise data sets.

17. Click Close to close the installation the dialog box. If you clicked Yes in
the previous step, additional time is needed to complete the installation.

Post installation tasks

If your network uses proxy settings, youll need to get those from your network
administrator. Once you know your proxy settings, contact the Dealer Help Desk
for assistance in adding those into SpecPro 21.

Start SpecPro 21
After installation is complete, the SpecPro icon appears on the computers
desktop. To start SpecPro 21, do one of the following:
Double-click
From the Windows Start menu:
Windows 7: Start | All Programs | SpecPro 21
Windows 10: Start | All Apps | SpecPro 21

Log on to SpecPro 21
The first time you log in to SpecPro, a Windows Security Alert dialog box
appears.

1. Click Allow Access.

2. On the SpecPro Login to SpecPro 21 dialog box, click New/Update.

 The system opens the Member Login dialog box. If the dialog box opens in
the background, click on it to bring it to the front.

3. On the Member Login dialog box, enter the user name and password set up
for you by your system administrator.

4. Log on to the Membership Services site using your SpecPro login ID and
password.

5. Verify the information is correct, and then scroll to the bottom of the page
and click Download to SpecPro 21.
If the information is incorrect, contact the Dealer Help Desk to have the
information updated.

6. The following dialog box may appear asking if you want to close the
window. Click No.

7. If ctlmaint.cab is not installed on the computer, the following dialog box
appears. Click Install.

The following dialog box appears:

8. Click Retry to continue.

The User Account Control dialog box appears.

9. Click Yes.
The Download Complete dialog box appears.

The Download Complete dialog box may appear behind the SpecPro dialog
box. In this case, move or minimize the SpecPro dialog box to show the
Download Complete dialog box.
10. Click OK.
A Windows Intenet Explorer dialog box appears.

11. Click Yes.

The User Update dialog box appears.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can SpecPro 21 be installed if my System Administrator remotely connects to my
computer?
The SQL Express component often fails to install when the user is logged in to
the target computer remotely. Make sure to install the software and data files
locally with a user account that has administrative rights.

How do I start SpecPro 21?

You can start SpecPro in a couple of different ways:
Double-click the SpecPro icon on the desktop
Windows 7: Start | All Programs | Specpro 21
Windows 10: Start | All Apps | SpecPro 21

When I try to open Help, nothing happens. What can I do?

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools | Internet Options | Advanced.
3. Under Security, make sure that this option is selected:
Allow active content to run in files on My Computer
