Progress Reports:

Ayaan Khan: Congratulations to Ayaan on his first performance, he did fantastic!

There will be a big Anthem concert mid-October and by that time Ayaan could
potentially have a new song ready and play again! In our lessons, we will
continue a combination of reading music notation and guitar tablature, as well as
learn popular tunes that Ayaan is interested in. He is still so focused during the
lessons and I hope he can maintain that mindset.

Caden Castillo: As long as Ive had Caden as a student, weve been reading
guitar tablature in order to learn songs. Starting now, Ill be incorporating a lot
more music theory and notation reading within lessons in order to approach
music more analytically. For example, he is learning about the C Major scale and
its inner workings about how to relates to chord progressions.

Jack Ledoux: Congratulations to Jack on his first performance, he did fantastic!

There will be a big Anthem concert mid-October and by that time Jack could
potentially have a new song ready and play again! I gave him certain guidelines
for his new composition which is to only play 3 string chords throughout the song.
I believe we had come up with some chords already so Im looking forward to
hear what he came up with this next lesson.

Evan Wood: Congratulations to Evan on his performance, he did fantastic! There

will be a big Anthem concert mid-October and by that time Evan could potentially
have a new song ready and play again! Last lesson we were choosing a new
song to learn but I cannot recall which song we picked. Aside from that, we will
continue to work on his music reading with short tunes from some of my books.

Matthew Castaing: Matthew has been learning I Love Rock n Roll by Joan
Jett. This song focuses on power chords which is a very important guitar
technique since countless rock songs use them. I would like for him to listen to
the song a lot in order to help his memory when playing. Hes doing pretty well so
far and can definitely be ready for a performance September 17th at The Well.
Contact Samantha asap if you would like him to perform!

Alysa Caroll: Alysas been working on Tonight The World Dies by Avenged
Sevenfold. Shes actually catching on quite nicely and is about 80% through with
it. She could definitely have it prepared for a upcoming concert if shes
interested. We have a performance September 17th at The Well, and another
one in the middle of October which will be the Arneson River Theatre. Let Sam
know what may be best for you all!

Luke Caroll: Same thing applies for Luke. He could be ready for either
performance. He would be performing Waiting on the World to Change by John
Mayer. He has this song pretty much down with only minor details to work on
such as chord clarity. Hes also learning Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand which
involves a couple of new techniques for him. Looking forward to having him on
stage again!

Logan Hubbard: Once Collin is ready with Ocean Avenue on drums we can start
having him and Logan jam together. If we could have at least three rehearsals
with them I think that would be optimal. If for whatever reason the song gives
them an issue we could also try Hopes And Dreams which was a past song they
learned. That tune would be awesome as well. Aside from this, Id like to start
going into some music theory since we havent covered that in quite some time.

Rachel Haga: I think its about that time for Rachel to perform on stage again! We
have a performance September 17th and another one in the middle of October
which will be the Arneson River Theatre. The song Id like for her to play if she
performs is Pink Houses by John Mellencamp. If she practices more than usual
she can be ready for Septembers concert but I would recommend the Arneson
so we have time to really polish it up. Let Sam know what may be best for you all!

Dimitri Bottjen: At this point with Dimitri, we can either continue to practice For
Whom the Bell Tolls or start a new song to have it ready for the Arneson
performance. Id recommend that latter since I would hate to have Dimitri practice
the same song for another month or so. On my part, Ill make sure it is
completely accessible for him so he will feel comfortable on stage!

Luiza Ferraz: Luiza has been working on quite a few things: Some warmups/
exercises, a tune called Reverie and the latest thing shes been working on is
her own piece which has yet to be named! She has it all complete now so I would
like for her to practice to the point where she can have it ready for a
performance. Theres a concert September 17th that would be just enough time
for her to polish it up and play it! Ill make sure to mention this to you all if I
havent already by the time you read this.

Luke Riedel: We have a performance September 17th and another one in the
middle of October which will be at the Arneson River Theatre downtown. Luke
hasnt been in a performance yet and it would be a great experience for him to
play in front of an audience. With the song hes working on I would like for him
to be able to listen for the beat in order to help him strum more in sync.
Sometimes he will speed up, but Ill continue to work with him on rhythms.

John Walter: Im excited to have John as a student because of his focus and
great energy! So far weve covered basically guitar terminology to be able to
communicate more eectively within the lesson, and have taught him a few
chords to be working on for his song. Rhythm (the timing of the notes) can be
easy to forget once he leaves the lesson so I will start to teach him how to read
rhythms! And I believe the song we are working on was All The People Said
Amen by Matt Maher.
