EPIC FAILED INVENTIONS IN HISTORY
1. DIFFERENT INNOVATIONS
It discusses two innovative projects that came about after 1950, the Ford Nucleon
and the Dymaxion house.
The Ford Nucleon automobile design was developed by Ford Motor Company in
1958. The car had no internal combustion engine, but a small nuclear reactor power
and a capsule in the back that contain a radioactive nucleus and which is designed to
It can be exchanged easily. They said the Nucleon would be able to travel 5,000
miles or more depending on the size of the reactor, without recharging.
The Dymaxion house was developed by the inventor Buckminster Fuller to correct
many errors he had found in existing construction techniques. Fuller designed many
different versions of the house at different times. An important consideration in the
design was the ability of transport and assembly.

2. WHY THEY FAILED BEEN SUCCESSFUL?
These inventions were displayed very promising, but, came to fail. The reasons
were:
3. PREVENT FAILURE
3
Analyzing these problems that generated the failure of these inventions, today we
can use other methods to perhaps these projects can be an alternative for domestic
use or the best alternative in the new world.
In the case of Ford Nucleon, the development of light shielding material for nuclear
reactor and prevent serious accidents, overweight and radiation.
In the case of Dymaxion house, he had put into their full potential, providing solutions
to the shortage of postwar housing due to the incorporation of new materials, the
application of sustainable technologies, and ease of assembly and production in
more quantities.
CONCLUSIONS
These advances would have been an excellent tool of everyday life, however, at that time
we werent found a way to achieve success solution to these projects. For example, the
case of Ford Nucleon the gradual understanding by society of the problems which hosts the
nuclear energy, atomic project car went to the gallery nuclear stories of the time. The
perspective of the years has shown us that the energy problem wouldnt be solved with the
coming of nuclear fission. In the case of Dymaxion house, ideas were creative, many of
them werent carried out because they were considered eccentric and didnt get the
necessary support to materialize. Despite this, in a time where almost no one paid attention
to the environment and the consequences of human actions in it, Fuller managed to
distinguish being a great innovator, proposing solutions to this problem.
