RTU Communication Delay

Upon power-up, the RTU delays about three minutes before starting communication with
devices on the Ethernet LAN network.

To check the devices LAN settings, highlight the device; select Properties from the Device
menu; then select the LAN Settings tab.

Resolution 1: Disable BOOTP


If BOOTP is enabled and the device does not require BOOTP support, select Not Used in the
BOOTP Settings area.

Resolution 2: Decrease the BOOTP Window


If BOOTP is required and enabled, and the BOOTP window setting is too high (the default is
180 seconds), decrease the BOOTP window setting to the value required by the device. For
example, 20 seconds is sufficient for a D25 device with a low collision network setup. For
more information, position your mouse cursor over the field and press F1. The default
settings are:
