Aims: Ss listen a dialogue for specific details.

Ss count and solve sums in English.

Ss talk about the family members based on a visual support

Ss draw their family and present it using specific structures (This is my)

Ss ask and answer questions based on a visual support (Is this his camera? Yes, it
is/No, it isnt)

Materials: textbook, multimedia CD, realia.

Interaction: individual work, whole-class, pair work

Procedure:

1. Warmer (5-10 minutes): review of previously learned material (page 16)

listening (pages 17, 18): T explains what is being listened and


asks Ss some details from what they hear)

speaking: exercises 3, 4,5 from page 19.

2. New lesson (This is my family, page 20)

a) Ss listen (ex 1, page 20) and point to the family members from the picture (ex. 2, page 21)
2-3 minutes

b) Ss draw their family - 10 minutes

c) Ss practice questions and answers about family members (ex. 3, page 21) 2 minutes
d) Ss ask and answer questions about their family members using their drawings as visual
support 5-7 minutes

e) Ss point to different objects and say their equivalent in English (ex. 4, page 22) 2-3
minutes

f) Ss ask and answer questions based on the visual support from exercise 5, page 22 2-3
minutes

g) Ss listen and tick in the table what they hear (page 23, ex. 6) 2-3 minutes

Aims: Ss act out dialogues where they present themselves and greet each other

Ss match the names with the pictures

Ss say and point different school objects given a visual support

Ss ask and answer questions about school objects.

Materials: textbook, multimedia CD, realia.

Interaction: individual work, whole-class, pair work

Procedure:

1. Warmer (15 minutes): review of previously learned material (page 6): Ss are asked if
they remember how to greet each other in English. Ss answer. T repeats from page 6 and asks
Ss to repeat.

speaking: exercise 4 from page 7: T asks some pairs of Ss to


come in front of the classroom and act out the dialogue from page 7. T offers support
and gives feedback.

Ss work on exercise 5 from page 7: T explains the task and


gives Ss time to complete. T checks.

Ss listen to the alphabet song and try to sing it.

2. New lesson (Lets visit my school): 20 minutes

a) Ss look at the picture from page 8. T asks Ss to name the objects from each number in
Romanian. Afterwards, Ss are asked to look at the picture again and listen for the words in
English and point 10 minutes
b) T pronounces each word separately and asks Ss to repeat. T uses realia from the classroom
and asks Ss to give their equivalent in English. T offers support 5 minutes

c) Ss act out the dialogue (exercise 2 from page 8): T offers the model for the dialogue using
realia from the classroom. Ss follow the example 5 minutes

3. Closing: T asks Ss if they remember the alphabet song. Ss sing with the teacher (5
minutes)

Lesson: Lets visit my school

Structures and vocabulary: school objects, numbers from 11 to 20

Aims: Ss listen to a dialogue and pay attention to specific details

Ss practice saying the numbers from 11 to 20.

Ss learn a poem with numbers from 1 to 10.

Ss listen to classroom commands and act.

Materials: textbook, multimedia CD, realia.

Interaction: individual work, whole-class.

Procedure:

1. Warmer (15-17 minutes): review of previously learned material (page 8): Ss are asked if
they remember how to greet each other in English and the words they learned during the
previous lesson (school objects). Ss answer. T repeats from page 8 and asks Ss to repeat (5
minutes)

While-listening: Ss are asked to look at page 9 from their textbooks. T informs Ss that they
are going to listen to a dialogue with the characters from the pictures. Ss are asked to pay
attention and look for the word in English for broscu (turtle). T checks. T also tells Ss to
turn the page at 10 and listen. After the finish listening, T explains what was being talked in
the dialogue (10 minutes)

- T makes Ss aware of the two words: big and little and explains the Ss through drawings (2
minutes)

2. Numbers 11-20: 20 minutes

a) Ss are asked to count from 1 to 10 in English. T may use her fingers or other objects to
make it easier for Ss to remember them. T writes the numbers on the board.
b) T informs Ss that they are going to learn the numbers from 11 to 20. T asks the Ss to look
at page 11, exercise 4. T asks the Ss how many flies/pies/butterflies and so on are there in
Romanian. T then introduces the numbers, one by one and afterwards, she says the numbers
with the objects from the exercise 4. Ss repeat in both cases.

c) Consolidation: T asks the Ss to repeat the numbers again and informs them about a strategy they
can use to remember better the numbers (adding teen to 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9). Ss repeat and the T
writes the numbers on the board.

3. Fun practice: Ss are asked to listen to a little poem from exercise 5, page 11. T reads and the Ss
repeat. T reads one line at a time and Ss repeat (5 minutes)

4. Closing: T gives Ss the commands from page 11, exercise 6. T acts and Ss follow.

Aims: Ss practice saying the words for different toys in English

Ss ask and answer questions about the toys from given images using whats this/its
a/an

Ss listen to a dialogue for specific details.

Ss practice the colours using given visual support and realia

Materials: textbook, multimedia CD, realia.

Interaction: individual work, whole-class, pair work

Procedure:

1. Warmer (7 minutes): review of previously learned material (page 11): Ss are asked if
they remember the words they learned during the previous lesson (numbers from 11 to 20).
Ss answer. T repeats from page 11 and asks Ss to repeat - 5 minutes

- T gives commands and Ss do (page 11, exercise 6) 2 minutes

2. New lesson (Whats this?)

a) Ss look at the picture from page 12. T asks Ss to name the objects from each number in
Romanian. Afterwards, Ss are asked to look at the picture again and listen for the words in
English and point 10 minutes

b) T pronounces each word separately and asks Ss to repeat. T offers support and helps Ss
with the pronunciation 5 minutes

c) Consolidation: Ss ask and answer questions: Whats number 10? Its a camera. (exercise 2, page
12). Ss also work on exercise 3 acting out the dialogue. T explains and Ss act out the dialogue in pairs
5 minutes
3. Fun practice: T tells Ss to look at the pictures from pages 13 and 14. T tells Ss that they are going
to listen to a dialogue with the characters from the pictures. T asks Ss to pay attention to the English
word for piscin (swimming pool) and morcov (carrot) 5 minutes

4. Consolidation (colours) and closing: T asks Ss to look at exercise 5 from page 15. T explains the
task and plays the CD (Ss listen to the colours and point on the colour flower from exercise 5) T
monitors. T uses realia in order to check if Ss remember the colours 3 minutes.

Aims: Ss practice the colours using given visual support and realia

Ss listen to classroom commands and do

Ss practice saying the words for different animals and playground objects in English

Ss listen to a dialogue for specific information

Materials: textbook, multimedia CD, realia.

Interaction: individual work, whole-class, pair work

Procedure:

1. Warmer (10 minutes): review of previously learned material (page 12 and 15): Ss are
asked if they remember the words they learned during the previous lesson (toys and colours).
Ss answer. T repeats from page 12 and asks Ss to repeat.

- T explains the Ss what they need to do for exercise 6 and 7 from page 15. T reads and Ss
repeat (ex. 6). Ss work on their own and then T checks. T asks Ss to give the answers for ex.
7 in English.

2. New lesson (Pet race)

a) Ss look at the picture from page 16. T asks Ss to name the objects from each number in
Romanian. Afterwards, Ss are asked to look at the picture again and listen for the words in
English and point 10 minutes

b) T pronounces each word separately and asks Ss to repeat. T offers support and helps Ss
with the pronunciation 5 minutes

c) Consolidation: Ss ask and answer questions: Whats number 10? Its a pond. Ss act out similar
dialogues using other numbers 5 minutes
3. While-listening: Ss are told to look at page 17 and T explains what they are asked to do. T plays
the CD and Ss listen for the English equivalent for different animals (owl, dodo, mouse, crab). Ss
listen and T checks. T explains Ss what the characters were talking about. T asks Ss to turn the page at
18 and do the same, only this time, the T asks Ss to say what prizes received the winners. Ss listen and
the T checks. T helps Ss with the pronunciation of the two structures/answers: carrots for White
Rabbit and bones for the dogs - 10 minutes

4. Fun practice: T gives Ss some commands from exercise 8, page 15 and Ss do 2 minutes.
