TheOracleXEdatabasethatwillbeinstalledwithPrimaveraP6Professionalrequiresjavatobeinstalled
onthesystem.TheJavaRuntimeEnvironment(JRE)orJavaDeveloperKit(JDK)canbeinstalled.Either
willwork.

ItisveryimportanttomakesureasupportedJavaversionisinstalled.ForPrimaveraP6Professional
R8.3thesupportedJava7Update15versionshouldbeinstalled.Other(newer)versionsmaynotbe
compatibleandmaygiveyouproblemswiththedatabaseportionoftheinstallationordatabase
operationsafterinstallation.

ToinstallJava,rightclickonthejavamediafileyouhavedownloadedforyourmachine.Inthefollowing
examplethejre7u15windowsi586.exeisbeingrun.

Followtheinstallationinstructionsonthescreentocompletetheinstallation.Inmostcasesthe
installationdefaultspresentedbythewizardwillgiveacleaninstallationoftheJavaenvironment.

updatesofyouJavainstallation.

folderandrightclickonit.

2. SelecttheOpenoptionfromthemenu.Youcanalsodoubleclicktostarttheinstaller.

Theinstallermaypromptyoutoinstallcertainprerequisiteprogramsonyourmachine.Theseinclude
theDHTMLEditingComponentandMicrosoft.NETFramework4(x86andx64).Ifprompted,allowthe
installertoproceedwiththeseinstallations.

3. Oncetheprerequisitesareinstalled,youmayseethefollowingsecuritywarningdialog.Ifyou
do,clicktheYesbuttonandallowtheinstallationtoproceed.
