EXPERIMENT
MATERIALS

4 Beakers Stirring rod

Measuring cylinder Weigh balance
5 aspirin tablets Hot plate
Thermometer Heat proof mat
METHODS
1. Line up four beakers and fill each beaker with 200ml of water, using a measuring cylinder.
CONTROL
2. Weigh one tablet on the balance and record the weight in your results table.
3. Place the tablet in the first beaker and start timer straight away.
4. Once finished dissolving, stop the timer. Record the time in your r esults table.
TEMPERATURE
5. Heat one of your beakers, on a hot plate to 60oc using a thermometer.
6. Once the beaker is to temperature take off the hotplate and put on a heat proof mat
7. Weigh one tablet and record weight in your results table.
8. Once finished dissolving, stop the timer. Record the time in your r esults table.
CONCENTRATION
9. Weigh TWO tablets on the balance and record the weight in your results table.
10. Place the tablet in the first beaker and start timer straight away.
11. Once finished dissolving, stop the timer. Record the time in your r esults table.
SURFACE AREA
12. Weigh one tablet on the balance and record the weight in your results table.
13. Using a mortar and pestle grind the tablets into a powder.
14. Place the tablet powder in the first beaker and start timer straight away.
15. Once finished dissolving, stop the timer. Record the time in your r esults table.

AIM: The aim of this experiment was to observe the rate of reaction.

HYPOTHESIS: 1 It is hypothesised that Concentration would ____________________ the

rate of reaction.

2 It is hypothesised that Temperature would _____________________ the

rate of reaction.

3 It is hypothesised that Surface Area would _____________________ the

rate of reaction.

RESULTS: 1 It was observed that _________________ did/ did not_____________ the

rate of reaction.

2 It was observed that _________________ did/ did not_____________ the

rate of reaction.

3 It was observed that _________________ did/ did not_____________ the

rate of reaction.
