Synopsis of the talk

Prefabrication is an industrial process with a large potential for the future.

However, it is often felt that architects, engineers and contractors hesitate to use
the technique because of lack of knowledge on the structural mechanics of precast
construction and the design, detailing and execution of projects.

The topic is seldom taught at universities and generally not covered by post-
graduate training in professional design practices. In this way builders are deprived
from technical and economical advantages of this progress in modern building
technology.

The course is aimed at providing a detailed review on the matter and thereby
promoting a greater awareness and understanding of precast concrete structures.

Bio-data speaker

Ir. Ivonson Kwee is graduated from UPM on Bachelor of Civil Engineering. He is also
a registered Professional Engineer of Malaysia and member of IEM Malaysia. He
has 21 years of working experience in design of which 10 years in consultant and 11
years in precast concrete manufacturing. From the year 1996 to 2006, he has
worked in Consultant firm as Senior Engineer on Structural Design mostly in
Malaysia and Brunei. Then from the year 2006 to present time, he works in
manufacturing of precast factory as a Senior Business Development Manager and
Head of Design Department for precast concrete and IBS System.

University students.

Language
English will be used for the talk and talk materials.

Goods and Services Tax ( GST)

GST will apply with effect from 1st April 2015.

CPD and Certificate of Attendance

The talk is eligible for 4 CPD Hours for Professional Engineers registered with BEM,
and a Certificate of Attendance will be issued subject to full attendance. Subsitution
of participants is allowed. However, the Certificate of Attendance will only be issued
to the person attending the talk.

Registration fee must be submitted together with the registration form. All fees are
payable in Ringgit Malaysia by crossed cheque to ASSOCIATION OF CONSULTING
ENGINEERS MALAYSIA (SARAWAK BRANCH) or by CASH TERM.
