CHAPTER I

ITRODUCTION

Tuyo refers to salted dried fish, also known as stockfish in some countries. Dried fish is
known in all ages here in Pangasinan. Fish is extremely important in countryside where fish
and rice is a staple diet for many people. Aside from that, one of the benefits we can get in
dried fish is that it is a completely natural product that retains the antioxidant and omega-3
benefits of fresh fish, while constituting a healthy and widely available food for both people
and dogs.

The researchers aim to gather and collect data and information if "TUYO WITH
DIFFERNT VARIANTS" will be feasible here in the entire Pangasinan.

The business aims to establish "TUYORIFFIC" in Dagupan City. The specific type of
dried fish that the researchers will be going to use is tunsoy. The researchers chose Dagupan
City as the main business area because it is the center of trade and business of aquatic
products in many towns. The essence of the business is to be the first to introduce dried fish
with different variants such as sweet, sour and spicy which entails to provide a new taste of
dried fish. The Tuyoriffic aids to localize the different tuyo variety here in Dagupan City by
buying dried fish in Dagupan City, Sual and Bolinao, Pangasinan. Lastly, the business must
create a way where dried fish (tuyo) can be sold to supermarkets not producing intense odor
than the usual processed fish does.

Statement of the Problem

In this section, the following problems stated below served as the objectives of this study.
Thus, these were the specific questions answered by the researchers.

1.) How do the business will improve the dried fish (tuyo) industry and incrementally
increase the production of high quality of tuyo in order to contribute to the economic
welfare?
2.) How do the business would acquire their target return of investment which ranges to 10-
20 % ?

Significance of the Study


The general purpose of this research is to create a new twist of dried fish to get rid of that
usual dried fish that we can usually buy at markets and to establish a business that will further
improve the tuyo industry and could gradual increase the production of tuyo with different
variance in order to contribute in economic welfare. Specifically, this study aimed to benefit the
following:

Home Use. This study hopes to provide families with e a new twist of tuyo that can be found on
areas near them.

Marginalized People. The result of this study aims to help them avail of an economical and
natural twist of tuyo in areas near them thus, the need to spend of a large amount of money will
be lessened.

Department Trade and Industry. This study intends to contribute and boost tuyo industry that
this department is searching to improve fish base products that is common in our country.

Fish Farmers. This study desires to encourage fish farmers to grow more fish products uses to
be process as a possible source of income.

Tuyo Vendors. This study desires to encourage Tuyo vendors to have innovation on fish base
products as a possible source of income.

Students and teachers. This study will provide them new knowledge about tuyo which are
common in our country thus, promoting further use of these.

Future Researchers. This study hopes to serve as a reference for the future researchers who will
conduct a study similar to ours.

Scope and Deliitation

This research is conducted to know if it is feasible to have different variance for dried fish or
tuyo as sweet, spicy and sour. The company will use Tunsoy that are found mostly in the
Indo-Pacific Region and several part in Philippines. Because of its smell when frying, Tuyorrific
would shred the tuyo pieces into flakes adding the sauce and placed into container or jar.
Tuyorrifics would be perfect with hot, steaming rice and tuyorrific can be also topped on white-
creamed pasta to release it from its blandness. The study will be conducted throughout the entire
Pangasinan especially in Dagupan City. The target markets are those whose ages range 10 years
old above. The duration of this research is at least 3 months.
