Brief overview of the application

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kaspersky Update Utility is intended for downloading updates from supported
Kaspersky Lab applications from a specified update source. The application allows
saving updates to a local or network folder from which they can be distributed to
computers that have no Internet access. Kaspersky Update Utility connects to the
update source according to the defined settings and checks for the presence of
updates for selected applications. If some updates for the selected applications
are found, Kaspersky Update Utility downloads them to the selected folder. Having
downloaded the updates, the application checks them for integrity. The results of
the application's operation are saved in a report. When running the utility for the
first time it is recommended to select the minimum possible number of products (not
more than two) to speed up update download.

Warning!
* Updating applications by means of Kaspersky Update Utility does not ensure
that your computer is always up-to-date, because updates are not distributed on
your computers at the same moment when they are released.
* To provide the user with technical support, the application logs reports
and tracing of actions performed in text files. Files are preserved in the
application installation folder during the entire period of the application usage.
The user can delete reports and trace files after closing the application. Reports
and trace files may contain personal data. Employees of Kaspersky Lab Technical
Support can request for reports and trace files when the user contacts Technical
Support. No automatic sending of reports and trace files to Kaspersky Lab is
performed on the user's computer.
* Update Utility does not protect the user's data. The application settings,
including the user name and the password for accessing the proxy server, as well as
reports and trace files are saved on the user's computer in open access. If the
user's data needs protection against unauthorized access, the user has to perform
all of the actions required for data protection.

Kaspersky Update Utility allows:

* Downloading updates of databases and software modules for supported
Kaspersky Lab applications
* Updating the list of supported Kaspersky Lab applications
* Adjusting the update downloading settings by means of a configuration file
and graphic interface
* Starting the update process manually
* Starting the update upon a schedule.

Work under these operating systems requires an additional package for
Qt 4.6 libraries or above and ia32-libs (for 64bit).

Hardware requirements:
* Intel Pentium CPU 1 GHz x86/x64 or higher (or a compatible equivalent)
* 512 MB free RAM.
