1) Alexander Hamilton Versus Thomas Jefferson on Popular Rule
Who had more sound arguments? According to Hamilton, the people that should get more power are the wealthy and educated. According to Thomas Jefferson, all people should have the power (Document 1). Jefferson had a more sound argument because he argued the fact that common people were the majority in the nation and that would keep the government stable. Thomas Jefferson as the leader of the Democratic-Republicans Jeffersonians, he believes in no need of a central government, no taxes, no debt, no national bank, he therefore thinks it is better for all people to hold the power because common people do not like to pay taxes and they would support Jefferson. 2) A President Bids Farewell How was Washingtons Farewell Address an attack on Jeffersonian Republicans? According to George Washington, the United States needs to be isolated and needs not to show any interest in foreign conflicts to maintain a healthy nation they should not make permanent alliances (Document 2). Washingtons Farewell Address was an attack on Jeffersonian Republicans because he was being critical about the fact that the Jeffersonians had created good relationship with the French from the permanent Franco-American Alliance. George Washington saying goodbye to presidency and believing more in Hamiltons ideas, attacked Jeffersonians by criticizing the relationship they had with French people because it was only bringing conflict to the nation, and the French would use them to double their power. Washingtons aim on expressing this in such public address is that because he was ex-president people highly listened to his words and they influenced many people.
