to keep their identity and values.

the coexistence of ethnic groups, languages and cultures in the same society.

NATIVE AMERICAN RENAISSANCE is a term which was used by American critic Kenneth Lincoln
in 1983 for the first time to describe the important increase in production of Native American
literature that took place after 1969, when the famous Native American novel House Made of
Dawn was published.

They were a new generation of Native-American writers who were interested in discovering
early texts by Native American authors and in exploring the culture (mythology, ceremonies,
etc).

Some writers in this movement were Vizenor and Niatun, who encouraged the interest in
Native-American culture and the improvement of the conditions for Native people, which were
still very harsh during this period.
