Wah Yan Mentorship Programme 2017-18

Dear F.5 students and parents,
Wah Yan Mentorship Programme (WYMP) is a key initiative organized by a group of dedicated alumni under the Past Students Association
(PSA) collaborating with the Career and Further Studies Guidance Committee of the school, aiming to passing on education and career
experience and life skills to juniors, as well as strengthening the bonding within the Wah Yan family.

Having more than 9 years in history, WYMP has been well received by students and the old boys. Some matured alumni from various
professions have been recruited as mentors. Mentors and Mentees will be grouped together according to their education and career interests
for further sharing and activities. We have designed four highlight events which would enable students to gain a better insight into their
expected paths in choosing tertiary education and career planning in the coming years. Here are the details:

1. Matching Session (12 Oct. 2017 (Thu. lunchtime)) and subsequent meetings: Mentors will meet the assigned mentees in
a lunch gathering (lunch box will be provided), exchange contacts and establish connection in the future. They are expected
to see one another regularly on their own arrangement.
2. Joint School Career Fair (Jan. to Feb. 2018, TBA (Weekday pm)): Multi-sessions of seminars run by WYHK and MSS
mentors from various fields. This will provide early tips and information about various industries and the real world that
students will be entering. This is essential when students are considering their choice of subjects in university.
3. Personal Statement & CV Workshop (20 Apr. 2018, (Fri. pm)): Personal statement is an important vehicle through
which students can introduce their personalities and qualities to the university admission officers. During the workshop,
Mentors will share the skills of writing and polishing a personal statement.
4. Joint School Interview Workshop (28 Apr. 2018, (Sat. pm)): Co-organized with Marymount Secondary School, briefing
and mock university interviews simulating the scenario of being scrutinized in real life.

Recognized as an important component of Wah Yans career education and life planning programs, WYMP events are counted as Career
Related Experience (CRE) in their Student Learning Profile (SLP) if mentees have satisfactory attendance. With the spectrum and depth of
the devoted alumni, our school strongly recommends Form 5 students to take part in the programme. Parents are also invited to encourage
your children to participate.

Mentees must participate in all the above events punctually and contact their mentors on a regular basis .
Students who would like to join the WYMP have to fill in and return the application form below with parents consent signature by 26 Sept
2017 to Mr. Elvis Lam at school and pay an enrollment fee of HKD100 (in cash) which will be used for covering the expenses for lunch and
