Course Objective
In this course students will:
Use the elements and principles of
design.
Grades are calcualted as follows:
Understand how to succesfully use
various mediums used in painting and
drawing
Create reproductions and original
compositions using skills and
Supplies
knowledge learned in class
This class requires a $25 class fee, which can be
paind with cash or a check made out to
Edmonds School Distict, and must be paid in the
main office. This fee will pay for all consumable 30% Participation: Every day in class, you will
supplies used in this class. If you are unable to
pay this fee, please discuss it with your
counselor and have them email me. Students
could be charged extra for damaging or losing
class supplies.

Absences and Make-up Work
School policies regarding tardies, absences,
and excessive absences will be enforced.
Please refer to the student handbook for
these policies.
Late work will only be accepted on projects,
not for sketchbooks, quizzes, and other small
assignments. Late projects will be accepted
for reduced credit. The project will be
deducted 10% for every week that it is late.
For example, if a project is one week late, -
10%, or if it is 3 weeks late, -30%
If you know you will be absent, notify your
teacher in advance, and work ahead. Check

Grading
60% Projects: These usually take 2-5 weeks to
complete in class and are difficult to make up
at home because they require special art
supplies.
10% Homework, tests, quizzes, and
sketchbooks: Before starting a new project,
there will be small assignments to prepare Issue Date
students for the final project.These are
usually completed in class, but can easily be
done at home.
get 5 participation points. If you are on task
and working, you will keep all of your
partiicaption points, but, if you are tardy, not
at your assigned table, wont help clean, talk
during instruction, or are off task, you will lose
points. Unexcused absences receive a zero for
particiaption that day.
Extra Credit
Get out and experience art! Visit an art museum
or gallery and tell me about your experience by
writing about what you experienced, or by
drawing what you saw. There are worksheets in
the front of the room or online for these
assignments. Prove you were at the museum or
gallery with a ticket stub or selfie in the
museum. Each student is allowed to earn 20
extra credit points per art visit and a maximum
of 2 visits per semester.
Warning!
Art can get messy, so please wear appropriate
clothes, or wear an apron!
