Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT Manipal) started in
Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering
1957, is reckoned for its academic excellence in engineering
sciences. The institution offers graduate studies in 16
disciplines, 24 post graduate courses and PhD programs. MIT
is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee this year. A series of events
have been planned on this occasion.

Established in 1960, the Department of Electrical & Electronics

th Engineering offers a 4 year Graduate (B.Tech) program, two
post-graduate (M.Tech) programs and PhD programs in

academic and professional excellence in all of its endeavors and
develop its members potentials enabling them to be socially
responsible engineers and contribute significantly to the
upliftment of the society.
Theme
The Young Researchers Meet (YRM) is an initiative of IEEE
PES Bangalore Chapter to evoke desire among young research-
ers to play a major role in the scientific progress in the area of
Organized By Power and Energy Systems. The YRM brings together young,
forward thinking Ph.D. students and researchers, along with
industry professionals and academicians.
IEEE Power & Energy Society
The YRM is an interactive workshop devoted to the discussion
Bangalore Chapter and the interchange of new developments and ideas in Power
and Energy. The workshop is primarily aimed at graduate &
Post Graduate students, and young professionals intend to
Venue pursue Ph.D program and are working in the area of Power and
Energy.
Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering The main purpose of this workshop is to provide a platform for
young researchers, both experimentalists and theorists, to

interact and form collaborations across different domains of

The workshop is organized in two sessions: First session will
have experts from organizations like GE, ABB, PRDC, and
various elite academic institutes speaking about ongoing
research as well as prospective research work in the Power and
Energy Systems. Second session will focus on mentoring. A
mentor will work with a group of participants focusing in a
particular area on ways to tackle various challenges
encountered in research. A mentor will be devoted to an active
research field in Power and Energy Systems such as Smart
Grids, Micro Grids, Power Quality and Reliability, Power
System Planning & Operation, Power system Dynamics,
FACTS, Renewable Energy Integration, Solid State Lighting
and Controls, Energy Management etc.

To discuss the practical and implementation problems
To provide a platform to share and learn
To discuss about necessary skills for research
IEEE PES Bangalore Chapter
The IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) is a worldwide, non-
profit association of more than 26,000 individuals engaged in
the electric power industry whose mission is to be the leading
provider of scientific information on electric power and energy
for the betterment of society. The IEEE-PES Bangalore Chapter
has been very active in conducting several technical talks,
workshops and national/international conferences on several
