1. Mr Smith invests 5000 in a savings account at the beginning of a year.


The money earns 2.5% per annum compound interest.
The interest is added on at the end of each year.
How much money will Mr Smith have in his account at the end of 3 years?

The width of the rectangle is 2 centimetres less than the width.
The perimeter of the rectangle is 48 centimetres.

1. After 1 year = 5000 + 2.5% = 5000 + 125 = 5125.
After 2 years = 5125 + 2.5% = 5125 + 128.125 = 5253.13.
After 3 years = 5253.13 + 2.5% = 5253.13 + 131.32825 = 5384.46.

2. Length = x.
Width = x 2.
Perimeter = 4x 4.
4x 4 = 48 which we solve to get x = 13.
