BudapestInternationalChoirFestivalandCompetitionisamilestoneinthehistoryofchoralcompetitions.In
1988,whenwefoundeditwewouldnothavedreamtthatonthebasisofthisnewconceptanentirenetwork
ofeventswouldbebornallovertheworldandbecomeknownbythenameMusicaMundi.

Weshallkeeptheclearartisticmessageandthestructureoftheevent,whereeverychoirwillfindthecategory
andformofparticipationbestsuitedfortheensembleslineup,repertoire,artisticstandardandcapabilities.
Furthermore, we shall improve our professional evaluation system to make it even more transparent, clear,
excludingallthepossibilitiesformanipulation.

We intend to underline the intensive communication between participants and the jury, and emphasise the
goaloftheseeventstohelpthedevelopmentofchoirsandstrengthentheirmotivationanddedicationtomu
sic.

Thusthe2017choralcompetitionisagainamilestone:thenewevaluationsystemofourfutureeventsmade
its debut in 2015 and preserves all the advantages of the wellknown evaluation concept that I worked out
whileintroducingnewcriteriatoprovideamoreefficientassistancetochoirslearningwithamoredetailed
and perspicuous evaluation system. Beside other aspects the jury will give choirs a feedback about the pro
grammedramaturgy,theselection,difficultyetc.Inevaluatingachoir,takingallthecriteriaintoaccount,we
aimatfindingamostdesirableproportionofvariouselementsinordertoprovidearealisticfeedbackonthe
choirsperformance.

ThisnewgenerationofchoralcompetitionswhicharenowunitedundertheauspicesofInChoralInterna
tionalMusicCompetitionsNetworkwillfocusonculturalexchange,gettingacquaintedwithoneanotherand
asharedmusicalexperience,besidewelldeservedsuccessofthechoirs.

In addition tothe competition consultations and other form of professional counselling are also designed to
servetheparticipantsdevelopment.Jointsingingwillalsogetagreateremphasisandabrandnewelementof
thiseventisthepossibilitytosingalonginacertaincompositionintheOpeningConcertorconcertespecially
organisedwiththispurpose.

Weareofferingawiderselectionofcategories.Inadditiontothewellknowncategorieschoirswillhavethe
possibilitytosingupforMusicaSacra,Pop,andJazzandGospelcompetitionsaswell.

WearecordiallyinvitingeveryonetojointhisrenewedcelebrationofchoralmusicinoneofCentralEuropes
culturalcentres,intheprestigiousconcerthallsofhistoricalBudapest.

formances at home and abroad. Choirs with more experience in the international choral scene, at a higher
gradeofvocalandmusicaltraining,choirsofmusicschoolsandconservatoriesasadvisedtosignupforAcate

ductors,itsmembersmustallbeamateurs,e.g.theyarenotallowedtoearntheirlivelihoodby

Choirs are kindly asked to inform the organizer about their individual programmes during their

rightsintheRecordingsformovies,videos,TVand/ormoviecommercials,imagefilmsetc.,totranslatethem
intootherlanguages,tousethemformultimediapurposesofanykindortorearrangetheminanyotherway
(e.g.tocreateremixesordosampling).ThisalsoincludestheexclusiverighttousetheRecordingsingames/
PCgamesaswellasotherandalsointeractivemultimediaproductions(incl.socalledwebsites)forgoods,
servicesandadvertisingpurposesofanykind.
Finally,thisincludesthenonexclusiverighttousethechoirs/artistsnameaswellasimagesofthechoir/
artist in the context of the exploitation and the advertising and promotion measures mentioned above. The
organiserdoesnotpayanymoneytotheARTISTfortheexclusivegrantofrightsmentionedabove.TheARTIST
accepts explicitly that the positive promotion effect resulting from an exploitation of the Recordings by the
organiserrepresentsanadequatereturnserviceforthistransferofrights.Incaseofacommercialreleaseof
theRecordingsonCD,thepartieswillnegotiateseparatelyingoodfaithaboutanadequateroyaltytobepaya
bletoArtistaccordingtostandardbusinesspractice.

Theorganiserreservestherighttomakechangesandamendmentstotheexistinginformationmaterialand/or
the announcement in the event of unforeseen technical, organisational or artistic circumstances or act(s) of
