TAMAN YAAHOWU KOTA GUNUNGSITOLI

Taman Ya'ahowu Gunungsitoli city is a new tourist attraction opened in the city of

Gunungsitoli, and became a favorite place of the community, especially Young people of

Gunungsitoli Town. This park Located right in downtown Gunungsitoli, this park was once a

heap of building debris when the earthquake struck the Nias Islands in 2005. But now, Taman

Ya'ahowu become the recreation center of Gunungsitoli people. This park is different from other

parks that we often see in other areas. Because this park is on the edge of the sea with a cool

breeze and the waves breaking very pamper our eyes. Because this park is newly built by the

government of Gunungsitoli City, then we still can not feel the shade trees because it is still in

the process of planting. But, it does not become a barrier to the charm of the park.

In the middle of the park Ya'ahowu has been built a large stage that resembles a custom house

that became the caracteristic of the park. And visitors often come and rest there. During the day,

we can go to the park to enjoy the breeze that can relieve our fatigue. And at night toot, that Park

very crowded by visitors who want to calm down, and want to gather with their friends, even

many families who come to visit this place. Because this place does not charge a fee to enter.

But, we are expected to maintain the cleanliness of the park, premises do not throw garbage

carelessly.

Because of its charm that captivated the people of Gunungsitoli Town, many private or

government organizations often hold big events in this park. And attract the attention of the

people of Nias. Thus, many people of Gunungsitoli City make this Park as the Symbol of

Gunungsitoli Town.
HOYA BEACH
 Hoya Beach is one of the beaches enjoyed by visitors because it has a clean white sand
beach with rows of trees and clear water. The beach is located in the city of Gunungsitoli or 15
km north of the city center. The distance from the capital of Gunungsitoli is about 25 minutes.
This beach is also often called the twin of Kuta Beach with a coastline of approximately 1,500
meters and along the beautifully lined beaches dazzle hundreds of pine trees and cottages for a
resting place. This beach also has built a jetty that juts out into the sea. And the dock is a huge
pile of stones. The length of the dock is about 100 Meters. If we are at the end of the dock, we
will feel a very strong wind, accompanied by shards of waves that hit the big rocks. And the
dock is one of the attractions of Hoya's beach and also as well as his trademark. In addition,
Hoya Beach also has clear watery waters, so it can see up to the bottom as deep as 8 meters, and
has a playground for children. Heading to this beach can use two-wheeled vehicles and four

 MIGA BEACH

 MBAHO MOAAWO WATER FALL

Ndraso Waterfall is often also called Baho Moawo is one of the famous natural tourist
sites in Gunungsitoli which once had become a favorite tourist location in the 80-90s.
Located with a distance of 6 Km from downtown Gunungsitoli in Onowaembo Village,
Gunungsitoli District makes this waterfall easy to reach, let alone can bring the vehicle up to the
river.
One of the uniqueness of this waterfall is that it is located in a large rock that split so as to make
us seem to be in a large cave with springs flowing in it.
In addition to swimming activities, this cave can also be a good location for rock climbing
because of the cave wall slope of about 70-80 degrees with sturdy fractures on the wall that can
be used as a grip and a footrest to climb. This cave has two levels of waterfall with a river depth
of about 0.5-2 meters. On holidays, we often see children jumping from a height of about 10
meters on the cave wall. However, if heavy rain occurs in the area, then this waterfall will turn
into turbid and stronger current.
 MARINA BEACH GARDEN

the beach is very beautiful. The beach is also almost like a park, because it has some play rides
for children and small grass that became the base. The location of this beach is not far from
Malaga beach. Namely located in the Village Simanaere Gunungsitoli Idanoi District. Precisely

 MALAGA BEACH

This tourist destination is located in the village of Simanaere Gunungsitoli Idanoi

domestic and abroad, where the location is very strategic in the municipality and also its position
on the seafront so that we can see the rising of the morning sun. Comfort, breeze, exoticism of

two beaches are close together. However, this beach is not famous like Hoya beach. Visitors
rarely visit this place because it is poorly maintained. However, basically this beach is very
beautiful and has a very clean white sand. Due to the limited management, this beach becomes
abandoned. One of the characteristics of this beach is the dock built in the sea. And this dock is
different from the existing dock at Hoya Beach. This dock is made of concrete. So the difference
from both sides can be the hallmark of the two beaches.
 FOFOLA BEACH

This one tourist destination is not less competitive with tourist destinations in the city of
Gunungsitoli. Fofola beach is located in the North of Nias Island, precisely in the village La'aya
kecamata Tuhemberua. Duration of travel time taken from the city of Gunungsitoli to this beach
approximately 90 minutes. The access road leading to the beach is very nice. Visitors can bring a
car or motorbike to visit the place. This beach, tourists can see the very wide white sand and a

 LUAHA NDROI WATERFALL

 GAWU- GAWU WATERFALL

This waterfall is a waterfall located in the village of Gunungsitoli District Sisarahiligamo.

The location is about 6 Km from Gunungsitoli Town Center.
To reach this area yes, we have to explore the forest about 20 minutes walk. Because the access
road is very limited. The cool water makes us want to take a long bath in this waterfall. This
waterfall is slightly different from other watefall. Because the waterfall is not too high.
However, the baths were very deep. We must be vigilant. This tourism object needs to be
developed again by the government, so that people can know the natural beauty of Gunungsitoli
City.
 TAMAN DOA BUNDA MARIA

Fodo village is always crowded every weekend. One reason is the Mary's Prayer Garden
which is the location for prayer and calm. Mary's Prayer Garden is newly built by the Catholic
Foundation. Where at first This park is a beautiful beach and frequented by the community and
called Beach Mother. But the more days, this beach was be not maintained and not visited by
tourists for several years. Until early 2016, this beach turned into a beautiful money park. That is
Mary's Prayer Garden, where the park is touted as a spiritual park of Christian tourists. Because
in it there are the statues of the Spiritual, such as statues of Jesus, Angel, the Cross and many
more statues that tell the journey about the Christian religion. The park is often visited by the
people of Nias who want to calm down and pray, and not infrequently there are also visitors who
want to take pictures with the statues that are in the park. The park is not very wide, but with a
very good arrangement, we feel that the place is very spacious. And its beauty has grown as it
has been planted with green flowers that make the park even more spiritually valuable. Uniquely,
visitors can try to speak with a big voice and resonate. Feeling in the room, even though the

PUNCAK LAOWOMARU

proud to be a resident of Nias islands. From Puncak laowomaru, we can see the vast expanse of
sea and the beauty of the beach beneath it. On top of this laowomaru there are also some huts as
a place to rest, and the green and shady trees make the atmosphere cooler. There are many
visitors who enthusiastically want to take pictures with the natural beauty. The location of this
tourist destination is located not far from the beach Laowomaru, which is in the Village Fodo
Gunungsitoli.
MUSEUM PUSAKA NIAS
Museum Pusaka Nias is one of the most popular tourist attraction by the people of Nias. Because
it contains the cultural values of Nias that are the identity of the people of Nias. In addition to
this museum is a cultural sights, museums are often visited because access to its location is very
easy to reach. Pusaka Nias is located in the center of Gunung Sitoli, precisely on Jl Yos Sudarso

person.

of Museum Pusaka Nias Heritage Museum can pay all your losses. Inside the museum is stored a
number of 6,000 collection of historical objects from the Nias region, which is a legacy of
ancestors Nias community such as traditional musical instruments, traditional clothing, stone
sculpture, traditional household equipment, jewelry, miniature Nias traditional house, Giant betel
sized 3 3 meters, and many more collections are very thick with Nias Culture. Not only
historical items are found in Museum Pusaka Nias. He east of the Museum, there are beautiful
scenery that offered nature for tourists to pamper our eyes. The beauty of the sea is breathtaking,
the breeze and the coolness that we can feel in the eastern part of the Museum. Not only that,
there are also some traditional Nias traditional houses that can be occupied by local and
international tourists, and a two-piece hall or meeting room with a capacity of 60- 100 people
that can be used by tourists if holding certain events.
The western part of the Museum is no less competitive with the eastern part. Because in the
western Museum Pusaka Nias there are some rare animals and plants typical of Nias which is a
traditional medicinal plant that is often used by the people of Nias in treating various types of
diseases. Among the collections of endangered animals are parrots, crocodiles, kancil, herons,
