Exercises on project stakeholder management

Problem 1 (25 points)

Background information:
In project office the first kick-off meeting takes place. Project manager is standing by the
screen and giving a presentation about project goals, important data, and project charter. The
following invited attendees participate at the meeting: project sponsor, CEO and heads of six
departments of project performing organization, project managers assistant, head of Project
Management Office (PMO), tree team leaders, two vendor representatives, three journalists,
head of state environmental protection agency, seven members of Green Society and ten
reassigned project management team members.
At the beginning of the meeting members of Green Society unfurled a banner against the
project, though all required permissions are received and project manager worked in close
cooperation with state environmental protection agency. Project manager has been informed
that two of six department heads are going to aggressively criticize the project charter. All
departments of the performing organization should provide active support to the project
manager and his team. The head of PMO retires in three months and does not want to
interfere in anything.
You have to classify the meeting attendees and fill-in the table below:

Problem 4- Creating a Work Breakdown Structure (32 points)

Background and action request:

A decision was taken to build a dedicated Agribusiness Training Centre in Kapan.

After you were appointed as the PM and the Project Sponsor also appointed your initial team
which you have with you, you held a planning workshop with your team during which you
identified the following:

There is a suitable 10 hectares site very close to Kapan city.

A site survey was carried out which showed that all facilities of the Training Centre
could be built there.
The appropriate design and building permissions will need to obtain.
This site is 5 km away from the closest A road and a new connecting asphalt road will
need to be incorporated in the project.
As soon as the Training Center has to serve the whole Syunik region of Armenia it
will be necessary to include an accommodation construction for the training centre
management, training and support staff, and the trainees.
Isolated location of the project site requires security service establishment.
The ATC Board of Directors has already approved the $5 million and has given
authority to the Project Sponsor for its commitment to the project.
A deadline has been set for 17 months from today for it to be up and running

Using the above presented information:

1. Identify the key deliverables of the project

2. Use the deliverables to produce a Work Breakdown Structure for the regional ATC
project both in table and in tree-like structure forms.
