Control Panel
The SONOLINE Elegra ultrasound system provides an industry-exclusive control
panel featuring Heads-Up display. This feature allows users to keep their eyes on the
image throughout the exam.
Imaging controls are highlighted with multiple levels of backlighting for ease of use
during mixed-mode operation.
Unique CINE wheel combines frame and loop operation into one control.
The control panel can be raised and lowered 5.0 cm (2.0 in.), rotated 30 and extended
toward the user (earlier systems only), allowing the system to adapt to the clinical envi-
ronment. The touch screen portion of the control panel can be angled independently for
optimal viewing.
Audio Speakers/Microphone
Integrated audio speakers move with control panel to focus the sound toward the user.
Installed microphone allows voice recording on videotape.
High-Resolution Display
The optimized and high-fidelity ultrasound data of the SONOLINE Elegra ultrasound sys-
tem is displayed on a proprietary, high-resolution, non-interlaced monitor:
15-inch, high-resolution, non-interlaced, 68 Hz display
1,024-line monitor with custom phosphor to enhance ultrasound images
The display matrix is 1,024x768 pixels with a large, recordable image size of 888x666
pixels
Monitor can tilt (15), swivel (178) and extend; left or right mounting option
Transducer Ports
Access to three (four on SONOLINE Elegra Advanced configuration) transducers and
one dedicated CW transducer with electronic switching (depending on configuration).
Transducer Storage
On-board storage for specialty transducers and cable management provides easy
access and increased security.
The platform provides four transducer holders with a unique locking design to secure
transducer and cables during transit.
System Input/Output
Input: NTSC or PAL; R, G, B, Sync; Audio (R/L); S-VHS
Output: NTSC or PAL; S-VHS; Y/C; R, G, B, Sync; B/W Composite; Audio (R/L);
Ethernet; RS-232; RJ-11 (service modem)
Video Standard (NTSC/EIA: 525 lines, 60 Hz; PAL/CCIR: 625 lines, 50 Hz)
Internal modem for remote system diagnostics in selected geographical regions
Stereo headphone jack
Optional Features
The SONOLINE Elegra Advanced configuration provides an equivalent 256 channels of
real-time, high-resolution ultrasound system using all-digital beamformer technology.
The SONOLINE Elegra standard configurations provides an equivalent 128 channels of
real-time, high-resolution ultrasound system using all-digital beamformer technology.
Programmable Image Processor: Siemens is proud to provide the fully integrated,
highly flexible image processor.
This device provides super-computer processing power that will support a number of
real-time image analysis, quantification and reconstruction techniques. The program-
mable nature of these electronics provides the foundation for easy integration and
faster delivery of new processing and analysis algorithms.

Independent receive gain, transmit power and transmit frequency controls for all ded-
icated modes and mixed-mode displays.
The Res/Speed control balances line density and frame rate for each mode.
Frame rates up to 150 fps (depending on configuration).
The 8 DGC slide pots can be configured to control gain evenly across the current
image depth or across the maximum image depth for the transducer in use.

NOTICE Use of Color SieScape imaging requires prior installation of the B/W SieScape option.
NOTICE Using the 3-Scape option requires software version 4.3 or higher and a 9 GB hard disk drive.
1.5.8 Photopic
Photopic Ultrasound Imaging is designed to improve visibility of patterns and lesions
especially in low contrast organs (as typically found in abdominal and small parts exams).
Photopic imaging applies histogram equalization to the grayscale data to optimize the
brightness and contrast of conventional, grayscale, 2D real-time images and then colorizes
them. A color lookup table is then applied to further stimulate and take advantage of photo-
pic vision. Thus, Photopic imaging allows better contrast resolution, especially in more
homogeneous tissue and permits viewing of ultrasound images in bright ambient light.
Photopic imaging functions in real time and as a post-processing feature. It is available in
the following modes:
2D imaging
Duplex 2D/M and 2D/D
Dual 2D, including dual live
The Photopic feature is accessed through Page 1 of the 2D folder on the touchscreen.
1.5.9 SieFlow
SieFlow Imaging is a specialized 2D mode imaging feature that forms 2D-mode images
from the received echo data using a patented phase inversion technology. The images are
optimized for displaying blood flow, which provides the following advantages over compa-
rable Doppler data-gathering techniques:
Fewer complications caused by wall motion
Less dependence on scan angle
Improved visualization of hemodynamic patterns
Improved viewing of structures surrounding areas of turbulence
Demonstration of turbulence with minimal artifacts
The SieFlow feature is accessed through Page 1 of the 2D folder on the touchscreen.
