Centre to organise 'Make in India' conference in Bhubaneswar.
The conference would be organised by the Department of Industrial Policy and
Promotion (DIPP) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to attract investment
in the state as well as the country.
Make in India is an initiative launched by the Government of India to encourage
multi-national, as well as national companies to manufacture their products in India.
India hoped to emerge, after initiation of the programme in 2015 as the top
destination globally for foreign direct investment, surpassing the United States of
America as well as the China. In 2015, India received US $63 billion in FDI.

SAARC Immigration Authorities meeting held in Islamabad.
The seventh meeting of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC)
Immigration Authorities was held in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Pakistans Director General Immigration and Passports Usman A. Bajwa was
unanimously elected as Chairman had chaired the meeting.

Meeting reviewed different areas to maximize the potential of visa exemption
scheme launched among the member countries in 1992.
It also deliberated on development of security software for SAARC visa exemption
scheme (SVES) and immigration matters.
This software would help to transform the existing manual system of the scheme
into an online visa application system.
It will have a central database that will provide all member states with real-time
and secure information.
India to host international summit on tobacco-control.
India is going to host a crucial global summit to eliminate the illicit trade of tobacco
products.
The summit is scheduled from November 7-12 at the Indian Exposition Martin Noida.
In this summit delegates from 180 countries will take part. This is the 7th session of
the Conference of the Parties (COP7) to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco
Control (WHO-FCTC).
The Indian Council of Medical Research - National Cancer Registry data has
estimated the number of cancer cases in the country which stood at 14.5 lakh in
2016.
Based on this report, the percentage of tobacco-related cancers is 43.8 among
males, 16.0 among females and 30.1 of the population as a whole.

WEF hosted the 29th India Economic Summit in New Delhi.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) in partnership with the Confederation of Indian
Industry (CII) hosted the India Economic Summit in New Delhi.
The summit was held under the theme, Redefining Public-Private Cooperation for a
New Beginning.
The Summit was built on three pillars: Boosting Global Competitiveness; Launching
a Domestic Systems Reset; and Scaling Local and Social Innovation.
The summit convened against a backdrop of significant economic growth and
progress in reducing poverty in most parts of India, but also persistent inequality.
More than 700 leaders from business, government, civil society and academia from
45 countries participated in the summit.

First Tech Meet of Hydrocarbon Vision 2030.
The first technology two-day meet under the Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for
Northeast India has begun in Guwahati and deliberate various issues regarding
implementation of the document which envisages an investment of Rs. 1,30,000
crore.
The meet is a stepping stone to put the north-east region on top of Indian energy
map by utilising its hydrocarbon potential in line with the Hydrocarbon Vision 2030.
The Technology Meet is an initiative of the sub- committee of the upstream sector
led by ONGC and has members from upstream national oil companies as well as private
companies.
Under the Hydrocarbon Vision 2030, for the northeast, oil and natural gas output
from the region will be doubled besides ramping up refining capacity entailing an
investment of Rs. 1,30,000 crore over the next 15 years.

countries regarding perpetrators, weapons, ideology and financing.
This is first of its kind meeting being hosted by Indonesia which aims at
strengthening the international cooperation network in addressing the growing threat
of cross-border movement of terrorism from the aspects of actor, information and

First National Conference of Investigation Agencies.
The Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) in coordination with
National Investigation Agency (NIA) is organizing the 1st National Conference of
Investigation Agencies at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
The conference has originated from the mandate of the BPR&D and the
recommendations of Directors General of Police (DGPs)/ Inspectors General of Police
(IGPs) conferences which stipulated.
The conference envisages providing an annual national platform to all the officers
of law enforcement agencies engaged in investigation tasks with the objective to
discuss the latest laws and judgments and their implications for investigation and
prosecution and to deliberate on new legislation/ criminal law amendments and
systematic changes for meeting new challenges in investigation.

The Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju visited Indonesia to attend
the International Meeting on Counter Terrorism on the theme ''Countering Cross
Border Movement of Terrorism'' held in Bali, Indonesia.
During the meeting both sides reviewed all aspects of bilateral cooperation and
reviewed defence and security cooperation, which is one of the five pillars of
strategic engagement.

The 1st National Conference of Investigating Agencies concluded in Delhi.

8th BRICS Summit to be held in Goa.
India will host the 8th BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Summit
in Goa.
India will host the summit in its capacity as chair of the influential bloc comprising
five countries with 42% of the world population and combined GDP of over 16 trillion
US dollars.
The theme of Indias BRICS Chairmanship is Building Responsive, Inclusive and
Collective Solutions.
The logo for the Summit is a lotus having colours from all the five member countries
and a traditional 'Namaste' in the centre.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi was in Goa to review preparations for the meet,

2nd Meeting of BRICS Ministers for Disaster Management to be held in
Udaipur.
The 2nd Meeting of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China & South Africa) Ministers for
Disaster Management will be held in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
The two-day meeting will focus on two distinct but inter-related themes:
(a) Flood Risk Management.
(b) Forecasting of Extreme Weather Events in the context of Changing Climate.
It is a follow up of the 1st meeting of the BRICS Ministers for Disaster Management
convened by the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg.
The delegates will share experiences on current systems in each country for
forecasting extreme weather events, heat and cold waves and episodes of extreme
rainfall, particularly in context of a changing climate.
During the Udaipur meeting, technical sessions with key thrust areas will be held
that include forecasting and early warning on floods and extreme weather events,
key early warning challenges, highlights of recent scientific and technical
developments.

5th Meeting of the India Russia Working group on Modernization and
Industrial Cooperation.
Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion led the Indian delegation to
participate in the 5th meeting of the India-Russia Working Group on Modernization and
Industrial Cooperation which were held in New Delhi
In the civil Aviation sector Russian side declared its readiness to participate in the
''Make in India'' program in order to develop technological and production capabilities
of the Indian side in this field and potential supplies of the jointly produced equipment
to third countries.
Both sides also identified specific areas of cooperation in the field of mining and

metallurgy. The Indian side expressed interest in joint development of coal fields and
iron ore mines in Russia.
Both sides have agreed to hold the next meeting of the Working Group in 2017 in
Russian Federation.

India, China Hold High Level Meeting On Economic Cooperation.
China and India held their 8th high-level Financial and Economic Dialogue to
strengthen trade and economic cooperation between the two Asian economies.
India's Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das accompanied held talks with his
Chinese counterpart, Vice Minister for Finance Shi Yaobin.
The annual dialogue is aimed at facilitating exchange of ideas and status updates
on common macroeconomic policies and problems faced by India and China.
This year's dialogue is being held ahead of the G20 summit in China and the BRICS
summit in India.
Combined population is over 40 per cent of global population. In 2015 total GDP of
the two countries occupy 18.5 per cent of the global GDP.
By the end of 2015 bilateral trade reached only 71.62 billion dollars and China's
investment in India is about 4.07 billion dollars. India's investment in China is only 650
million dollars.

BRICS conference of women MPs ends in Jaipur.
A two-day meeting of BRICS women parliamentarians will conclude in Jaipur,
Rajasthan.
Several issues related to climate change, gender equality, education and health
were discussed at the meeting.
Total 43 parliamentarians from BRICS countries including 28 MPs from Lok Sabha
and Rajya Sabha, are participating in the meeting.

BRICS Disaster Risk Reduction meet adopts Udaipur Declaration.
A two-day meeting of BRICS Ministers on Disaster Management ended in Udaipur,
Rajasthan with the adoption of the Udaipur Declaration. The meeting laid bare the
common thread of challenges on disaster issues faced by all the BRICS nations.
The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju termed the meeting as a
new milestone in collaboration and cooperation among BRICS countries in the field of
disaster management.
Udaipur meeting has successfully adopted the Udaipur Declaration whereby set up
a dedicated Joint Task Force for Disaster Risk Management for regular dialogue,
exchange, mutual support and collaboration among BRICS Countries.

The two-day SAARC Finance Ministers Conference begins in Islamabad to discuss
cooperation in different sectors of economy.
Finance Ministers from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal,
Pakistan and Sri Lanka are likely to attend the conference.
The SAARC Finance Secretaries meeting would be held here prior to the conference

South Asia Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA) and SAARC financial and banking
system and investment opportunities in the region would also be discussed for the
socio economic prosperity in the region besides discussing ways and means for the
uplift of the people of the member states.

SAARC Development Fund (SDC) operations would be made more effective for the

Pakistan to host 19th SAARC Summit.
Pakistan is going to host the 19th SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional
Cooperation) Summit in Islamabad (capital city) and Murree.
It will be the meeting of the head of states or head of government of the eight
SAARC countries. Besides, nine observers of SAARC have also been invited to attend
the Summit.
The SAARC Summit Cell is headed by Ambassador Amjad Sial, who is a senior
diplomat and nominee of the Government of Pakistan as the next Secretary General of
SAARC. The SAARC Summit Cell will closely work with all stakeholders and concerned
authorities in Pakistan. It will also liaise with the Member States, SAARC Observers
and the SAARC Secretariat for organization of the Summit.
The 18th SAARC Summit was held in Kathmandu, Nepal in with the theme Deeper
Integration for Peace and Prosperity. It had focused on enhancing connectivity
between the member states for easier transit-transport across the region.
