manufactures of concrete pipes.
: i) Mild steel grade-I, as per
IS:432 Part-I & II structural
steel as per IS:2062.
ii) As per IS 1566 and IS 1786
and IS 226 of latest
amendments.
: Spigot and socket as per Table
No.9 of IS code 458 with latest
amendment and design as per
Table No.2 with amendments.
: Spigot and socket as per Table
No.10 and 10A of I.S. code 458
with latest amendment. Design as
per Table 3 with amendment.
Barrel thickness design should be
approved before taking work of
manufacturing the pipe for NP3
class pipes.
: Aggregates used as per I.S.383
latest version and as per Clause
No.4.3 of IS 458-1988 with
amendment No.2.

5) Concrete : Pipe concrete should conforming

to IS:456-1978 code of practice
for plain and RCC (fourth
revision) as per clause No.4.5 with
latest amendment.

6) Water : As per IS 456-2000.

7) Testing at factory : Contractor has to make

arrangement of testing of pipe at
factory before supply at site.
Sampling as per IS code as per IS
458 clause 9 with latest
amendment/cube test are as per IS
516-1959 and IS 5816-1999 at
factory.

Test are :
i) Hydrostatic test as per IS
3599-1998.
ii) Three-edge bearing test as
per IS 3599-1998.
iii) Permeability test as per IS
3597-1998.
iv) Absorption test as per IS
3599-1998.
v) Straightness test as per IS
3599-1998.

Sampling and inspection should be

as per clause No.10 of 458 with
amendment.

8) Marking on pipes : i) Name of manufacture with

register trademark.
ii) Class of pipe
iii) Date of manufacturer
iv) I.S.I. mark

II Rubber Rings : Rubber ring chords used for pipes

joints shall conform to IS:5382-
1967 with amendment. Gasket
shall be made of a properly
vulcanized virgin rubber
compound of containing no scrap
or reclaim.

Tests : i) Hardness Test as per

IS:3400
ii) Tensile Test of Ring as per
IS:3400
iii) Compression Test as per
IS:3400.
iv) Accelerated ageing in air as
per IS:3400.

v) Water absorption Test as

per I.S.3400.

Sampling the time lapse for : As per IS code 5382 class 6 clause
testing. Marking on Rings 7 with appendix D.

i) The manufactures name

and Trade mark if any

manufacturer
iii) The type follower by a
word such Gas or Water or
Sewer depending on the
applications.
iv) ISI mark

III Manholes : As per IS:411 (Part-I) 1986 and as

per drawing issued by CIDCO for
execution purpose and as directed
by Engineer.

Type/spacing of manholes and : As per CIDCO drawing and

construction of manholes schedule of Rate.

IV Steps : As per Schedule of item and

drawing note.
As per IS:5455-1969.

Load Test : One sample of step of 50 samples

may be subjected to load test as
per Appendix A

Marking : ISI mark

Manufacture Name

V Precast Concrete Manhole : As per Tender Schedule and

cover and frame Drawing and IS Code 12592-
2002.

i) Grade and Type : Heavy duty HD 20 Rectangular or

Circular
ii) Cement : IS:269, IS:455, IS:8043, IS:8112.
iii) Aggregates : IS 383
iv) Concrete : IS : 456-2000. M-30 Grade.
v) Steel : As per Clause 4.4 of IS:12592.
vi) Test : Load Test as per clause o.9.3 of
IS:12592. Sampling and/or testing
should be done in accordance with
Clause No.11 of IS:12592.
vii) Marking : ISI mark, BIS mark.

VI Laying of Sewer Line : As per Schedule of rate of Tender

and Particular Specifications and
IS Code 783. Width of excavation
is as per Particular Specification.
