The locking-lever handle is a safety feature that allows the valve to be locked in the closed
position.
NIBCO has determined that current design of locking-lever handle assemblies indicated
below by part number do not perform as intended with standard 1/8 or 1/4 padlocks or
locking devices.
NIBCO has determined that standard 5/16 padlocks and locking devices will sufficiently
lock the valves as intended.
Based on this information, NIBCO does not recommend 1/8 or 1/4" padlock or cable-type
locks for the following locking handle assemblies at this time:
Additional sizes of locking devices likely perform as intended; though, any locking device
should always be confirmed for use upon installation per OSHA Lock-Out/Tag-Out
guidelines.
