Be steadfast and [be] patient and [be] constant and fear Allah so that
you may (be) successful.
Al Quran is one of worship that can be done anytime. Reading the Qur'an can be done from
morning until evening. Thus, the practice of reading the Qur'an can be increased as much as
possible. Reading the holy book of the Qur'an will make the heart become more calm and
patient.
Indeed, We [We] [We] revealed to you the Quran progressively. So be patient for (the)
Command (of) your Lord and (do) not obey from them any sinner or disbeliever. (Al Insan
23-24)
4. Fasting
Fasting is to withhold everything that can cancel the fast from dawn to sunset. Things
that cancel the fast include eating, drinking, menstruation, puerperium, intentional vomiting,
sex related of husband and wife, apostasy, out semen, and others
Fasting is very useful in resisting the passions. In addition, fasting can also serve to
increase the level of patience. If patience has been applied, it will also add reward from Allah
SWT.
But said those who were given the knowledge, "Woe to you! (The) reward (of) Allah (is)
better for (he) who believes and does righteous (deeds). And not it is granted except (to)
the patient ones." (Al Qasas : 80)"5. Avoiding bad deeds
One way to increase patience is to maximize yourself to not do bad deeds. Sometimes the
negative things that are done are very pleasant. Even so, it is just a pseudo-happiness that
someday we will regret.
If touches you a good, it grieves them and if strikes you misfortune, they rejoice at it. And if
you are patient and fear (Allah), not will harm you their plot (in) anything. Indeed, Allah, of
what they do (is) All-Encompassing. (Ali Imran : 120)
The purpose of human life in the world is to worship Allah SWT. Because life in the world is
only temporary, it can even be said this life is too fast. By always remembering Allah SWT
we will be more patient and sincere in life. If a person does not have patience, worship and
struggle will not be meaningful.
Whatever (is) with you will be exhausted, and whatever (is) with Allah (will) be remaining.
And surely We will pay those who (are) patient their reward to (the) best (of) what they used
(to) do (An Nahl : 96)
7. Exercise patience
With diligence to continue to train yourself, patience can also be formed. Self-training to
improve patience is also not easy. Because it will always be a temptation that comes to tempt.
But, if we are able to confront it, then we are among the righteous.
and those who fulfill their covenant when they make it; and those who are in [the] suffering
and [the] hardship, and (the) time (of) [the] stress. Those (are) the ones who are true and
those, [they] (are) the righteous. ( Al Baqarah : 177)
The story of the prophets can be a lesson for us in patience. The prophets have gained many
tremendous hindrances and trials. But they can pass it patiently. By reading or watching the
story of the prophets in patience, we can take lessons from them. Moreover, their example
can be applied in everyday life.
So be patient, as had patience those of determination of the Messengers, and (do) not seek to
hasten for them. As if they had, (the) Day they see what they were promised, not remained
except an hour of a day. A notification. But will (any) be destroyed except the people - the
defiantly disobedient ? (Al Ahqaf : 35)
Positive thinking is also one way of practicing patience according to Islam. Everything that
happens by the will of God and God has arranged everything. Humans often forget to Allah
SWT when stricken disaster. And blame Allah for all trials.
Therefore, positive thinking will make us more patient with temptation. When people
successfully faces temptation by remembering the name of Allah SWT, then the favor of God
received will be greater.
And surely We will test you with something of [the] fear and [the] hunger and loss of [the]
wealth and [the] lives and [the] fruits, but give good news (to) the patient ones. (QS. Al
Baqarah : 155)
One way to improve patience is by regulating emotions and breathing. By regulating emotion
and sighing a long, anger that arises subside. Controlled emotions of breathing relax the tense
muscles and increase patience.
11 Shalat
And enjoin (on) your family the prayer and be steadfast therein. Not We ask you (for)
provision; We provide (for) you, and the outcome (is) for the righteous[ness].(QS. At Thaha :
132)
If we are facing a trial, then we should be patient in facing it. One way to keep us patient and
tough is to shalat. Compared to just daydreaming and moaning, it's better to run the shalat.
One of them, performing the night shalat (tahajud) and ask for guidance to Allah SWT.
12 Prayers
O you who believe[d]! Seek help through patience and the prayer. Indeed, Allah (is) with the
patient ones.( QS. Al Baqarah : 153)
Allah will grant the wishes of the devoted servant of Allah SWT. In order for our prayers to
be answered by Allah SWT, we must often help the difficulties of others. Although we are
also in trouble, but acting selfishly will keep us far from being patient. In fact, the burden of
trouble will come more and more and make us impatient, emotionally high, and often angry.
13 Khusyu
And seek help through patience and the prayer; and indeed, it (is) surely difficult except on
the humble ones, Those who believe that they will meet their Lord and that they to Him will
return. (QS. Al Baqarah :45-46)
Asking for God's help will not be easy except for those who are khusyu '. People who khusyu
'means those who believe that in prayer will meet Allah SWT and one day will return to
Allah SWT.
When a person believes that their life will return to Allah SWT, then no matter how big the
problem faced, everything becomes small, because the big business is preparing for the
hereafter.
14. Believe that God tests a servant according to his ability.
For a Muslim, they must believe that God will not test Allah's creatures beyond their limits.
(Does) not burden Allah any soul except its capacity, for it what it earned, and against it
what it earned. (QS Al Baqarah : 286)
"Not necessarily a Muslim insulted himself. The companions asked, "How to insult him,
Rasulullah?" The Prophet replied, engage in examines and trials that he can not bear to
suffer. " (Narrated by Ahmad and Tirmidzi)
"It is not from our group who slapped his cheeks and tear off his shirt let alone pray with
jahiliyyah prayers." (Narrated by Bukhari)
Verily, Allah Azza Wajalla test his/her servant in the provision of God to him/her. If he/she is
pleased with the part he/she receives then God will bless him/her and extend his gift. If he/she
is not pleased with his/her gift then God will not give him/her a blessing. (Narrated by
Bukhari)
