EXPLANATION

What is a rainbow?

A rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction of light in

water resulting all of the colors in the visible spectrum.

HOW DO RAINBOWS FORM?

TO MAKE A RAINBOW, YOU NEED THREE INGREDIENTS: SUNLIGHT, WATER, AND YOU.
SUNLIGHT, AS YOU PROBABLY KNOW, CONSISTS OF ALL OF THE COLORS IN THE VISIBLE
SPECTRUM, Then the light comes out to the raindrop and reaches our eyes.

Now I will explain in detail how this process is. First when light travels from one medium to
another one part of it is reflected and another is refracted. Imagine that this is the light one
part is reflected and another is refracted, this is the angle, and this other is the other angle,
there a formula. Now with this information I will explain what happens in a raindrop. Suppose
this is the raindrop.

You will see red on the top and violet on the bottom

approximately

A rainbow does not exist at one particular location. Many rainbows exist; however, only one
can be seen depending on the particular observer's viewpoint as droplets of light illuminated
by the sun. All raindrops refract and reflect the sunlight in the same way, but only the light
from some raindrops reaches the observer's eye. This light is what constitutes the rainbow for
that observer.

Actually the rainbow is a circumference if we could see the rainbow from a high position we
would see a complete circum ference

However, there are other conditions for the production of the rainbow, rain must be uniform,
rain drops must be spherical, this happens when they fall at a constant speed, also rain drops
should not be affected by the wind. That is why the rainbow is not always contemplated when
there is rain and sun. It is important to note the height of the Sun when one observes a
rainbow, because it helps determine how much one can see of it: while the sun is below, the
crest of the rainbow will be higher and vice versa.
