Mesopotamia 4100 3000 bc

Mesopotamia was taken from the Greek meaning for between two rivers
It was in the Eastern Mediterranean, the land it held is now parts of Turkey, Syria
and Iran
Named two rivers because of the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers, whilst the land was
known as Al-Jazirah (or the island)
Mesopotamia was was a collection of various cultures who only shared their gods,
their writings, and their attitudes toward women
It is also known as the cradle of civilization
Mesopotamia was also known as the seat of learning, the First Philosopher or
Thales of Miletus is said to have studied there
The idea of gaining knowledge was valued across the region, the schools that were
set up (which were mainly devoted to the priests in that society) taught how to read
and write, the idea of religion and law, and the concept behind medicine and also
astrology
There were a total of over 1000 deities combined from all of the different cultures
and they had many stories that were influenced by the Gods they worshiped
Mesopotamian works included The Myth of Adapa and the Epic of Gilgamesh
which is known as the oldest story written in the world
