Troubleshooting of Sublimation InkVer.1.00

Supported Ink: Sublimation Ink/Pigment Ink in general. CONFIDENTIAL

2014/8/7 Ver.1.00
Ink Technology Department, Research and Development Division
The following describes how to troubleshoot a problem when one occurs.
No. Problem Problem Solution
Classification Details
Deflection Deflection right after head replacement
1) Contact your call center when the nozzles are not recovered with cleaning or nozzle cleaning.

Deflection caused in the middle of the continuous

1
operation.

Deflection not solved by the cleaning.

Scattering - The color is developed on the non-printed area.
1) Check to see if the head gap is less than 3.5mm.
2 - The coloring on the edge is blur.
The recommended head gap is less than 3.0mm.
Keep the head as low as possible.
Non-firing Non firing from the fixed nozzles.

Nozzle drop-out.
2) Check to see if the ambient temperature is in
the range of the environment requirements.
(20~30 35~65%RH

3) If several cleaning does not recover the head,

3 please perform [NOZZLE WASH] next.

Random voids from the random defective nozzles. 4) If none of the above recovers the head,
please contact your local call center.

Bleeding Blur on the edge 1) Check to see if the ambient temperature is

in the range of the environment requirements.
Color mixture b/w the colors. (20~30 35~65%RH)
High humidity can cause blur print.

2) Keep the transfer paper in the plastic bag and

store it in the cold and dark storage.
If the transfer paper is moistened with the
4 humidity, the image print on that paper
tends to bleed.

3) If increasing the color density, please set back

the setting to standard density.

4) If none of them solves the problem,

please contact your local call center.

Color reproducibility Color change 1) Check to see if the ambient temperature is in

the range of the environment requirements.
(20~30 35~65%RH)

2) The color agent in the ink may settle out, thus

perform [FILL UP INK].

3) Keep the transfer paper in the plastic bag and

store it in the cold and dark storage.

Difference in the density 1) Check to see if the ambient temperature is

in the range of the environment requirements.
(20~30 35~65%RH)

2) Double-check if the settings of RIP (Raster Link)

5 or the color scheme of data is not changed.

3) Check the requirements to make the transfer.

*Check to see if the actual ambient temperature
falls into the range of the required ambient
temperature.

) Store the printed transfer paper under the

following conditions.
1) Make the transfer within a day.
2) If 1), day-transfer is not feasible, take up
the transfer paper into a roll to prevent
the printed area from contacting the air.
5) If you failed to operate by meeting all of those
requirements above, contact your local call center.

Classification Details
Insufficient Color Insufficient, color fading transfer 1) Check to see if the ambient temperature is in
Development the range of the environment requirements
(20~30 35~65%RH)

2) If the color density setting on RIP (Raster Link) is

increased, please set back the setting to standard
density.

3Make the transfer once drying it out for

approximately one hour.

4) Increase the temperature to make the transfer

approximately from 5 to 10.
Recommended condition: 200 60sec

5) Store the printed transfer paper under the

following conditions.
1) Make the transfer within a day.
2) If #1, day-transfer is not feasible, take up the
transfer paper into a roll to prevent the printed
area from contacting the air.
6

Banding If there is sequential voids in the printed image, the proper ink firing is ruined due to the dried
nozzle at scanning, and it will cause uneven print density.
Follow the instructions below to avoid the problem.
1) Perform printer checkups before operation.
2) Lower the ambient temperature. (around 20)
3) Decrease the number of pass
4) Select the color pattern from the setting
function.
Change the print direction to the other way
around.
Dye bleeding 1) It happens often depending on the
pre-processing of the media.
Reconsider the amount of application and the
variety of the pre-processing agent.

2) Optimize the firing amount at printing.

3) Consider the optimum environment for

color-development.
Recommended temperature: 180~185 60s
Dirt on the felt Firm felt, Dirt on the felt, Felt meandering. The cause is adhesion of the vaporized ink components.
1) We recommend for you to use the base paper
with high air-proof-tolerance.
7 2) Make certain to place the base paper on the
transfer paper and on both sides of the cloth.

Defective Deliverable Migration 1) Check to see if the ambient temperature is in

the range of the environment requirements.
20~30 35~65%RH)

2) Check the requirements to make the transfer.

Recommended condition: 200 60sec

3) If using new transfer paper, leave the paper to

the printing environment for more than one
hour prior to the usage in order to have it
contain same level of moist with the surrounding.

4) Keep the transfer paper in a plastic bag for

storage. (This will keep the consistent ambient
environment for the paper).

Low color fastness to light The lightfastness of the blue pigment is fairly low.
Perform the print within the profile requirements.
*When increasing the print density with RIP settings, the lightfastness of the ink may decrease in
8
good chance.

Faded Sublimation Migration to the other material in storage. When it is stored in high temperature, the sublimation ink has a tendency to resublimate. Please
follow the guidelines below. Keep the transfer paper less than 35. If keeping the transfer paper
higher than 35, place a paper on the pint area to avoid migration.

When transferred with lower temperature, it may result in faded color or color migration. Keep
right temperature when engaged in transfer operation.

Dirt on the cloth at ironing. High temperature makes sublimation ink to resublimate. Follow the instruction below to avoid
resublimation.
- Keep the ironing heat week-middle, 120-140
when ironing.
- Perform ironing as quick as possible.
