MANGEMENT OF LEISURE AND RECREATION OF

VARIOUS GROUPS

NORBERTO RAYMUND D. ESTRELLADO

1. Identify the advantages and disadvantages of modern technology
as they influence massive change on recreational activity.

In todays world the advancement of technology is in everything

from a simple to most high-tech devise all aiming for easier and
convenient life.
In connection with leisure and recreation, the advancement of
technology has advantages and disadvantages. A wider choice of
recreational activity in using a gadget or devise is an advantage
where a smart phone with different application tends to entertain
an individual. It can be cheap, does not need too much space and
effort where a person can recreate virtually. But this is also the
disadvantage; people tend to choose recreational activities that
are less active and sedentary.

2. Enumerate some factors why some of the amusement parks (local)

were not much appreciated by the community. Sight some
solutions/recommendations to this matter.

Amusement parks are made to be the center of leisure and

recreation of a particular place. Different designs and purposed
structures depending on the municipality or city have an impact
on the community.
One factor that discourages community to appreciate the local
amusement park is the design. Some are so boring that the only
activity that you can do is to sit. Another is the location; some
amusement parks are located on the far side of the town. People
are discouraged because its just too far. Another is the city
maintenance were if the structures are damage miss used by
some people.
These are common factors that discourage the community to
appreciate the local amusement parks.
My recommendation is a better planning of building or making of
amusement parks. It should be multi-purpose. It can be for
tourism, health benefits, entertainment and many more. The
community should have a reason to visit the place and spend their
time having fun and entertainment.

3. Make a comparative analysis on the difference of recreational

activities of the youth as of now compared to the past generation.
Would you think activities before can be done/repeated now a
days?

A simple comparison of the recreational activities in the past

generation than today is related to my answer in no.1. Today a
person has a wide variety of choices in do in doing their
recreational activities. Both active and sedentary with the use of
different devise, people can choose the best available activity that
sooth there convenience.
Before people has less choice of activities and entertainment that
people before appreciates more simple activities.

4. As an educator, what would be your strategies to convince various

groups/individuals to engage in recreational activities?
As an educator, the best strategy that I can do is to influence
people in doing recreational activities. It is less effort,
multipurpose and effective. For example, students idolize their
teacher, if the teacher tends to recreate actively and the students
sees the benefits the students will be encouraged to do the same
recreational activity of the teacher.

5. If you were a manager of a recreational park/place (example:

gym, internet shop, beach resort, etc.), what would you choose
and discuss how your managerial strategy for this place will
operate successfully?

Since this is an IFI would choose the best dream. I would like to
own and manage a water park like the Splash Island. I will apply
simple strategies: it should be FUN, CONVENIENT and an
UNFORGETABLE EXPERIECE. People will always search for these
factors. So I if I have a water park, people will enjoy and have fun
while having a good convenient place to stay and an
unforgettable experience.

6. If you are a recreational leader, which will you choose to handle a

program, to the older group age? Why?

If I am a leader, I would always choose the younger age group for

the younger age group is more active and tends to participate in
the activities and they can bring their learning when they go old.
Older age group tends to be more inactive and more
knowledgeable that the chose what to do.
7. Which tourist spot in your community will you promote if ever you
encounter a foreigner?

I would always promote my town. Ligao has many undiscovered

wonders. From the beautiful hill top sceneries ( KAWA-KAWA) to
the un touched beaches of the city. The hill of Ligao is perfect for
relaxation, exercise and solemn place to pray. The beaches can be
a best place to explore and have an adventure.

8. How do you manage students with disabilities? Will you give

him/her with special treatment?

Yes, I will always give the child a special treatment. The student
has the right to choose what alternative activities that he or she
can do and parental permission. For example if a student has no
arms and the subject is swimming, I will set a lower standard of
activities and give considerations like using a floating devise (life
jacket) and with the same objective as the rest of the class to
propel oneself to the water will perform the activity. He or she
can use his feet to move forward. I would also give extra effort so
that the student would learn like assisting the student in the
water.
